Xinjiang Polytechnic Institute is a provincial public undergraduate college, formerly known as the School of Science and Technology of Xinjiang University. In 2015, it moved from Urumqi to Aksu City. In 2019, it was approved by the Ministry of Education and renamed Xinjiang Polytechnic Institute. Aksu is located at the southern foot of Tianshan Mountain, the source of the Tarim River, and the key point of the ancient Silk Road. The four ancient civilizations exchanged and gathered here, forming the world-renowned Qiuci and Daolang cultures. The school covers an area of 2,848.42 acres. It was planned once and built in multiple phases. 417,400 square meters have been built, and the total value of teaching and scientific research equipment has reached 129 million yuan.
