Xuchang University is located in Xuchang City, Henan Province, the former capital of the Han and Wei Dynasties. Xuchang is located in the "Central Plains". It is not only a famous cultural city with a long history, but also a booming modern new city. Xuchang has outstanding location advantages. Xuchang University is a provincial full-time general undergraduate college. The predecessor of the school was the Joint Normal School of the Fifth Administrative District of Henan Province, which was founded in August 1942. In July 1946, Henan Provincial Xuchang Normal School was established, and the five districts were merged into Xuchang Normal School. After the founding of New China, the school developed healthily. In 1959, it was approved by the State Council as a normal college. In 1963, it was adjusted to a secondary normal school due to the country's economic difficulties. In 1978, it was the first batch of normal colleges to resume operation. In March 2002, it was approved by the Ministry of Education to be upgraded to an undergraduate college.
