The school is located in the Han Dynasty Cultural Tourism Zone, with the scenic Jiuli Mountain in the south and the rippling Jiuli Lake in the north. In 1965, it was renamed "Xuzhou Chemical Secondary Technical School". In 1980, it was renamed "Xuzhou Chemical School". In 1993, it passed the evaluation of secondary technical schools. In 1998, it became a provincial (ministerial) key secondary technical school. In 2000, it became the first batch of national key secondary technical schools. In June 2002, it was renamed "Xuzhou Industrial Vocational and Technical College". In October 2003, it moved into the Jiuli Campus. In 2011, it was selected into the Jiangsu Demonstration Higher Vocational College Construction Project. In June 2014, it passed the acceptance with an "excellent" grade. In 2018, it was selected as a high-level college construction unit in Jiangsu Province. In 2019, it was selected as a construction unit of high-level vocational colleges and professional construction plans with Chinese characteristics. The "14th Five-Year Plan" development plan proposes to create an undergraduate-level vocational school with distinctive industrial characteristics. In 2022, it passed the "double high" mid-term performance assessment with an "excellent" grade.
