Yancheng Institute of Technology is a full-time general undergraduate college in Jiangsu Province. It is located in Yancheng, a coastal open city known as the "Oriental Wetland Capital and the Hometown of Cranes and Elks". It has two campuses, Jianjun East Road and Hope Avenue. The school was formed in May 1996 by the merger of Yancheng Industrial College and Yancheng Vocational University. Yancheng Industrial College (originally named Yancheng Institute of Technology) was founded in 1958 and became one of the three exemplary higher industrial colleges in the country in the field of building materials in 1986; Yancheng Vocational University was founded in 1985. In 2000, Yancheng Accounting School, founded in 1964, was merged into Yancheng Institute of Technology. In 2018, it was approved as a "Master's Degree Awarding Institution". In 2022, it was approved as a project construction unit for the awarding of doctoral degrees in Jiangsu Province. For half a century, especially since the mid-1990s, Yancheng Institute of Technology has been adhering to the school motto of "Studying hard, being virtuous and valuing behavior", carrying forward the "Iron Army Spirit" of the New Fourth Army, practicing the mainstream campus values of "advocating science, daring to innovate, daring to take responsibility, and pursuing excellence", and implementing the development strategy of "establishing a school based on quality, strengthening a school with talents, developing a school with scientific research, establishing a famous school with disciplines, and shaping a school with culture". It recruits students from 30 provinces (municipalities, autonomous regions) across the country, with more than 24,000 full-time undergraduates and nearly 1,200 graduate students. The school currently has nearly 1,800 faculty members, nearly 1,500 full-time teachers, including more than 800 senior professional titles, more than 700 doctors, and nearly 500 full-time and part-time graduate tutors; there are more than 20 academicians, Yangtze River Scholars and other specially appointed professors, more than 200 part-time professors, and more than 500 recipients of special allowances from the State Council and provincial and municipal governments, and candidates for the provincial "333 Project", "Qinglan Project" and "Six Talent Peaks". The school has a ministerial-level science and technology novelty search workstation of the Ministry of Education.
