Yancheng Normal University is a public undergraduate college under the jurisdiction of Jiangsu Province. It is located in the urban area of Yancheng, an open coastal city in Jiangsu. The school was founded in 1958. Its predecessor was Yancheng Normal College and Yancheng Education College. In 2002, the national key technical secondary school Yancheng Commercial School was merged. The school currently has two campuses, Tongyu and Xinchang, with a campus area of 1,500 acres. The school currently has more than 22,000 full-time undergraduate students. There is 1 provincial key industry college. The School of Marxism was approved as a provincial university demonstration school of Marxism. The school is a national language standardization demonstration school, a national teacher training base, a provincial pilot school for the education and training program for outstanding teachers and outstanding engineers, a provincial talent training model innovation experimental base, a provincial college student innovation and entrepreneurship practice education center, and a provincial international service outsourcing talent training base. It is the leading unit of the teaching consortium of universities in Yancheng designated by the Provincial Department of Education. The school is the first pilot university in Jiangsu Province and the first in the country to accept full certification of secondary education. The school currently has 14 teacher training majors that have all passed the teacher training major certification of the Ministry of Education (second level), and software engineering has passed the engineering education major certification. The school has 10 major disciplines including economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, agriculture, management, and art, and has 4 provincial key disciplines. There is one national key laboratory cultivation and construction site and 24 provincial and ministerial scientific research and innovation platforms. Among them, the Jiangsu Coastal Development Research Base was rated as a key research base for decision-making consultation in Jiangsu Province, and the Coastal Development Think Tank is one of the first 15 key cultivation think tanks in Jiangsu Province. In the past five years, the school has undertaken nearly 400 projects at the provincial and ministerial levels, including more than 110 national projects, ranking among the top universities at the same level.
