Yichang Vocational College of Science and Technology is a public full-time higher vocational college established in May 2023 with the approval of the People's Government of Hubei Province and the filing of the Ministry of Education. It was officially unveiled on September 16, 2023. The school is based on Hubei Three Gorges Technician College, with full-time general college-level academic education as the main focus, and continuing education as the supplement. It also has various forms of vocational training, public training, skills evaluation, competition training, employment services and entrepreneurship incubation functions. The school is planned to cover an area of 645 acres and a construction area of 190,000 square meters. There are 16 modern practice and training bases such as the media integration center, mental health development center, industry-education integration practice center, and college student practice activity center. The fixed assets amount to 250 million yuan, and the total value of teaching instruments and equipment is 110 million yuan. The school currently has 354 faculty and staff, including 7 senior titles, 128 deputy senior titles, 40 graduate students, 39 provincial and municipal master craftsmen and technical experts, 12 municipal subject leaders, and 3 master studios. There are 8 teaching units, and now there are 14 majors, including digital design and manufacturing technology, intelligent electromechanical technology, mechanical manufacturing and automation, computer application technology, artificial intelligence technology application, drone application technology, industrial robot technology, chemical automation technology, big data and accounting, financial and tax big data application, automobile inspection and maintenance technology, new energy vehicle inspection and maintenance technology, integrated media technology and operation, infant and child care services and management, etc., 16 secondary vocational majors, and nearly 7,000 full-time students. The school has successively won the honorary titles of National Advanced Collective of the Education System, National Advanced Unit of Vocational Education, Civilized Unit of Hubei Province, and Yichang City May 1st Labor Award. It is a national high-skilled talent training base, a national skill-based talent training base, the first batch of skill foundation engineering training bases of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, the 45th, 46th, and 47th World Skills Competition Industrial Control Project China Training Base, National 3D Printing Professional Construction Demonstration Base, and National Technical Education Integrated Reform Pilot College. It has hosted national, provincial and municipal vocational colleges and technical colleges skill competitions for many times. The school initiated the establishment of the "Yijingjingen" urban agglomeration technical school alliance, and fully participated in the work of Yichang Three Gorges Vocational Education Group to create a national demonstration vocational education group. The Yichang Equipment Manufacturing Vocational Education Alliance led by the college was selected as the first batch of national demonstration technical education alliances (groups).
