Yichun Vocational College is a public full-time general higher vocational college approved by the Ministry of Education. It was developed on the basis of the merger of Heilongjiang University Yichun Branch, Heilongjiang Yichun Normal School, and Heilongjiang Yichun Health School. Heilongjiang Yichun Normal School was founded in 1958. In 1984, the Yichun Municipal Government planned to build Heilongjiang Forestry Normal College. In 1993, the Heilongjiang Provincial Government agreed to recruit students in the name of Heilongjiang University Yichun Branch, with a training level of junior college. In 1999, the Ministry of Education approved the merger of Yichun Normal School and Heilongjiang University Yichun Branch to establish Yichun Vocational College. At the same time, it recruited undergraduate students in the name of Heilongjiang University Yichun Branch. From 2001 to 2014, it continuously trained more than 5,000 undergraduates in 14 classes. In 2016, the school merged with Heilongjiang Yichun Health School. Adhering to the school-running philosophy of "quality first, ability-based, and practice-oriented", the school has gradually determined the school-running positioning of "serving the comprehensive development of students, serving the economic and social development of the forest area and the people's livelihood and health of the forest area, facing the needs of the employment market and the training market", which further clarified the direction of the school's reform and development. In recent years, in various skill competitions, 3 teachers have won the provincial first prize and 16 teachers have won the provincial second prize. The school currently has 7,860 full-time students. There are 7 secondary colleges including the School of Medical Technology, the School of Stomatology, the School of Nursing, the School of Tourism and Business, the Normal College, the School of Engineering Application Technology, and the School of Computer Application Technology, as well as 9 teaching institutions including the Department of Ideological and Political Teaching and the Department of Public Teaching. The school is oriented to serving the leading industries of Longjiang and the key industries of the whole city, in line with the revitalization and development strategy of rural (forest farms), adjusting and optimizing the professional layout, and opening 31 higher vocational majors and 2 secondary vocational majors, covering 10 professional categories such as medicine and health, agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery, resources, environment and safety, energy, power and materials, and equipment manufacturing. We focus on building local characteristic brand majors that are in line with the development needs of the "4+4" key industries, including Yichun forest eco-tourism, forest food, forest capital northern medicine, green mining and digital economy, bioeconomy, ice and snow economy, and creative design industry, forming a professional (group) system that is integrated into the local area, close to the industry, highlights application, has an optimized structure, distinctive characteristics, and adapts to development needs. The school has always adhered to the mission of serving the regional economic and social development, and has deepened the school-enterprise cooperation of industry-education integration. By sending education to enterprises, setting up order majors, and jointly building training and internship bases, the school-enterprise cooperation field with Jianlong Xilin Steel Co., Ltd., Yichun Forest Industry Group and other enterprises has been actively expanded, enriched the school-enterprise cooperation model, and deepened the integration of industry and education and collaborative education. The construction of the Intelligent Iron and Steel Metallurgical Industry College jointly built with Jianlong Group was successfully selected as the first batch of vocational education demonstration modern industrial college cultivation projects in our province, and the joint training project of on-site engineers of the intelligent iron and steel metallurgical technology professional group was approved as the first batch of special training plan projects for on-site engineers in Heilongjiang Province. The municipal industry-education consortium project for the protection and utilization of the forest ecology in Xiaoxing'anling was selected as the first batch of provincial industry-education consortium projects. It was approved as a provincial military-to-civilian cadre training base, a provincial resource-based industry construction and equipment manufacturing industry training base for scarce talents, a provincial pilot school for deepening the education evaluation reform in the new era, a provincial rural revitalization talent training school, a pilot school for the smart education platform of vocational education, a vocational school serving the whole people's lifelong learning experimental school, a provincial pilot university for the integrated training of higher vocational and undergraduate applied talents, and a provincial high-level skilled talent training base construction project.
