Yuncheng Vocational and Technical University was funded and built by Shanxi Hongyuan Group Co., Ltd. in 2006. It is a full-time undergraduate university approved by the Ministry of Education of China and the first undergraduate vocational education pilot college in Shanxi Province. In 2015, it was awarded the "Excellent" grade in the talent training quality assessment of higher vocational colleges in Shanxi Province. In 2017, it was selected as the second batch of modern apprenticeship pilot units of the Ministry of Education. In 2018, it was listed as a "Shanxi Province High-quality Higher Vocational College Construction Unit" by the Provincial Department of Education and the Provincial Department of Finance. In 2019, it was selected as the first batch of pilot colleges for the "1+X" certificate system of the Ministry of Education. In 2023, it passed the "Bachelor's Degree Awarding Unit and Professional Authorization Review". As of March 2024, the school covers an area of more than 1,417.3 acres, with a building area of 407,000 square meters, teaching and scientific research equipment with a total value of 160 million yuan, and a total of 1.39 million books; there are 10,514 students and 734 full-time teachers, including 257 teachers with senior professional titles (74 of whom are senior professors), accounting for 35.01%; 406 "dual-qualified" teachers, accounting for 55.31%; 480 teachers with a master's degree or above, accounting for 65.40%, including 92 teachers with doctoral degrees. The school corresponds to the innovation-driven transformation and upgrading of Shanxi and the economic construction of the Yellow River Golden Triangle region, accurately serves the national strategy and the development of strategic emerging industry clusters in Shanxi Province, adheres to the basic principle of "three-chain docking" of "industrial chain and professional group, technology chain and curriculum system, business chain and practical teaching system", and follows the overall idea of "brand-led, radiation-driven, and characteristic development". Relying on the advantageous industrial resources of the organizer Hongyuan Group, it focuses on the development trends of digitalization of clean energy, intelligentization of modern manufacturing, big health in modern service industry, and diversification of cultural tourism, and focuses on building four pillar brand professional groups of digital intelligence mines, intelligent manufacturing, health care, and cultural tourism. The school has 6 secondary colleges including intelligent manufacturing and digital intelligence mines, health management, cultural creativity and tourism, information technology application innovation, construction engineering, and continuing education. It has 12 undergraduate majors and 10 higher vocational majors, covering 12 major professional categories such as equipment manufacturing, resources, environment and safety, medicine and health, public management and services, involving four disciplines such as engineering, medicine, management, and art. Gradually promote the formation of a "4+2" professional development pattern led by vocational undergraduate majors, and realize the construction of groups with chains, colleges with groups, and schools with colleges. The school pays attention to school-enterprise cooperation and the integration of production and education. It has established close cooperative relations with more than 100 enterprises, and has built 118 on-campus training rooms and 159 off-campus training bases, including 7 provincial training bases, which have created good conditions for students' training, internships, and employment. Since its establishment, the school has trained more than 20,000 applied technical and skilled talents urgently needed by the society; while earnestly running academic education, it has vigorously carried out various social trainings, and has trained more than 30,000 people in the past three years. Wanrong Admixture Industry College and Digital Mining Industry College, established by the school, have successfully been shortlisted for the cultivation and construction of characteristic industry colleges of vocational schools in Shanxi Province; the "Yuncheng Economic Development Zone Industry-Education Consortium" formed by the cooperation of "government, school, industry and enterprise" has the functions of talent training, innovation and entrepreneurship, and promoting high-quality development of industrial economy. The school adheres to the school motto of "combining learning with practice, solid integration", adheres to the school-running philosophy of "taking students' future as the basis, education quality as the root, personality literacy as the priority, and technology transmission and creation as the main focus", implements the "three literacy" cultivation system of humanities, occupations, and skills, and cultivates high-quality technical and skilled talents. In recent years, the school has won 2 national teaching achievement awards and 23 provincial teaching achievement awards: 5 special prizes and 4 first prizes. Won 1 second prize in the first national textbook construction, published 132 textbooks, including 2 national planning textbooks and 1 provincial planning textbook. 10 textbooks were selected for the first batch of vocational education project construction planning textbooks in Shanxi Province's "14th Five-Year Plan", 2 national teaching resource library sub-projects were established, and 11 provincial online boutique courses were launched. It has undertaken 114 teaching and scientific research projects at or above the provincial level, 286 applied technology research projects; 418 authorized patents, including 10 invention patents; 73 software copyrights; 1,411 papers published, including 102 core papers and above, and 5 provincial outstanding academic paper awards. In terms of skills competitions, it has won 54 national awards and 462 provincial awards. The school is the leading unit of Yuncheng Advanced Manufacturing Vocational Education Group, and has been recognized as a national coal mine safety training base, a national vocational education teacher training base, a national skills competition base, a national modern apprenticeship pilot unit, and a co-construction unit of Tsinghua University's "Positive Psychology China Vocational Education Practice Base" and Tsinghua University's "China Vocational Education and Precision Poverty Alleviation Research Center", a co-construction unit of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications' "Big Data and Emergency Management Engineering Research Center", and Huawei's China Government-Enterprise Coal Industry Joint Talent Training Base.
