Yunnan Forestry Vocational and Technical College is a full-time public vocational college with higher education qualifications approved by the Yunnan Provincial People's Government, registered by the Ministry of Education, and run by the state. The school is located in the Jindian National Scenic Area in Kunming City. Since the establishment of the former Kunming Forest School of the Ministry of Forestry in 1955, it has formed a unique charm and profound cultural heritage. The school motto of "becoming a good person, cultivating trees and cultivating people", the school spirit of "green mountains have me, green trees are shaded", the teaching style of "pruning branches and cultivating oneself, being virtuous and healthy", and the style of study of "being diligent and quick to learn, confident and capable" constitute the core connotation of the university spirit of "using the spirit of trees to cultivate people". As the only independent forestry vocational college in the southwest region, the school has gone through more than 60 years of development and has cultivated and trained a large number of forestry science and technology talents for the country. 80% of the technical backbones of the forestry bureaus of 129 counties (cities and districts) in 16 prefectures (cities) in Yunnan Province are graduates of the school. It is known as the "green cradle of forestry talents in Yunnan". The university now covers an area of 1,971 acres, with four campuses: Jindian, Shilin, Guandu, and Yanglin. It has nine secondary colleges, including Ecological and Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Gardening and Horticulture, Economic Management, Information Engineering, Cultural Tourism, Deket Internet, Continuing Education and International Exchange, and Marxism, and one General Education Center. There are more than 22,000 full-time college and technical secondary school students, more than 300 adult continuing education students, and a library collection of 1.353 million books and materials. There are 630 faculty members, including 452 full-time teachers, 20 doctors (including 2 postdoctoral fellows), 258 masters, 30 professors (including senior professors), 119 associate professors (including associate professors), and 164 "double-qualified" teachers. There are 3 “education talents” in Yunnan Province’s Talent Support Program for Xingdian, 6 provincial-level famous teachers, 1 national forestry and grassland famous teacher, 2 famous teachers of China (South) Modern Forestry Vocational Education Group, 2 experts enjoying special allowances from the provincial government, 1 provincial outstanding professional and technical talent with outstanding contributions, 1 Huang Yanpei Outstanding Teacher; 1 provincial reserve talent for young and middle-aged academic and technical leaders, 1 training target for new-era professional masters of the Ministry of Education; 1 national-level vocational education teacher teaching innovation team, 4 provincial-level excellent teaching teams, 4 provincial-level vocational education teacher teaching innovation teams, and 1 provincial-level Huang Danian-style teacher team. There is one provincial high-level scientific research innovation team, four provincial master studios, two provincial skill master studios, two provincial counselor master studios, one provincial mental health education and consultation demonstration center, one applied technology collaborative innovation center, one "dual-qualified" teacher training base, two virtual simulation training centers, two entrepreneurship and innovation courses, and one national cultural heritage and innovation demonstration specialty; one production-education integration base, two production-education integration communities, and six industrial colleges; there are 128 on-campus internship laboratories (bases), 15 school-enterprise co-construction production training bases, of which 8 are provincial higher vocational demonstration training bases. In 2019, it was awarded the first batch of "1+X" certificate system pilot colleges by the Ministry of Education, with 47 assessment sites, 36 certificates, and 53 levels of vocational skill level certificates selected. The school has built a high-scoring Yunnan Center Collaborative Innovation Research Base, which is the second batch of modern apprenticeship pilot units in the province, the first higher vocational college to pass the credit system fee filing, and the national vocational education informationization benchmark school construction unit. As a high-level higher vocational school and high-level professional group project construction unit in Yunnan Province, it currently offers 50 majors, including 1 national key forestry and grassland major in vocational colleges, 7 high-level backbone majors recognized by the Ministry of Education, 1 provincial key construction major, and 5 provincial characteristic majors, basically forming a large pattern of coordinated professional development. Through the reform and innovation of "three education reforms", talent training model, curriculum system, credit system, teaching content and methods, the school has completed the transformation from provincial demonstrative higher vocational colleges, provincial high-level higher vocational colleges, provincial high-quality higher vocational colleges to provincial double-high school project construction. It has now built 1 national and 1 provincial boutique online courses, won 130 provincial teaching quality engineering projects, and presided over 557 scientific research projects of various levels and types (including 33 horizontal projects), including 1 National Natural Science Foundation project, 2 National Science and Technology Support Projects (sub-projects), and National Forestry Project. There are 1 948 projects of the State Forestry and Grassland Administration, 11 provincial philosophy and social science education science planning projects, 16 central government forestry science and technology promotion demonstration projects, 14 provincial forestry science and technology promotion projects, and 43 projects of various levels and types from the Provincial Science and Technology Department; 5 scientific research results have been included in the achievement database of the State Forestry and Grassland Administration; teachers have edited or participated in the editing of more than 120 kinds of unified textbooks and textbooks used in the academy, and published more than 700 teaching and scientific research papers; participated in the formulation of 2 industry standards; 14 invention patents, more than 300 utility model and design patents were authorized, and 26 software copyrights were registered. As an open higher vocational college with an international vision, the school is now the chairman and secretary-general unit of the Yunnan Ecological Civilization Construction Vocational Education Group, the vice chairman unit of the "Lancang-Mekong Vocational Education Alliance", the vice director unit of the National Rural Revitalization Industry-Education Integration Alliance, the secretary-general unit of the Yunnan Forestry Vocational Education Group, the vice chairman unit of the Yunnan University Service Rural Revitalization Strategy Alliance, the Yunnan Open Vocational Education Group, the director unit of the Yunnan Green Energy Vocational Education Group, the South Asian Tropical Agriculture Industry-Education Integration Community, the National Modern Agriculture Industry-Education Integration Community, and the National Gardening Industry Industry-Education Integration Community. Designated as the China-Netherlands FCCD Project Training Center, the school hosted the "First China-Myanmar Forest Resources Protection and Community Development Forum" project of the Asian Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2016. The school cooperates with the University of Prince Edward Island in Canada to carry out the "2+2 Associate Degree to Bachelor's Degree" joint training, and cooperates with Laos Sun Paper, a top 500 Chinese "going out" enterprise, to carry out "order" training for international students. It has signed a vocational education cooperation agreement with the Vocational Education Committee of the Ministry of Education of Thailand and the Ministry of Education of Bangladesh, and has carried out a "2+1" talent training and dual degree improvement project with IUB University of Pakistan. It has established its first overseas branch-Bazhong International College, and recruits international students from countries along the "Belt and Road" to come to China for academic education. In recent years, it has trained more than 60 academic students from Laos, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, Malaysia and other countries, and won the top 50 international influence of higher vocational colleges in China in 2016, and was rated as "excellent" in the teaching management evaluation of foreign students in colleges and universities across the province. The school has won first prizes and outstanding organizing units in national and provincial skill competitions and innovation and entrepreneurship competitions for many times; a number of outstanding student groups, societies and individuals have emerged from the student groups, societies and individuals of national universities; the year-end employment rate of graduates has remained above 98%, and it has won the "first prize" in the employment target assessment of the Yunnan Provincial Department of Education for twelve consecutive years. It is a typical university with employment experience for graduates in Yunnan Province and one of the "top five" in employment, and has been shortlisted in the 2022 China Higher Vocational (Technical) College Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Index List TOP200. In 2018, the teaching and student management cases were identified as the top 15 typical cases of vocational colleges in the province (first in teaching management and second in student management). In the National University Satisfaction Survey Report organized by the Chinese Academy of Educational Sciences, the school's five survey indicators all exceeded the national average, ranking first among the ten universities in Yunnan sampled; in the 2023 ABC China Higher Vocational College Ranking, it ranked fourth in Yunnan and 265th in the country.
