Yunnan Vocational College of Transportation is a full-time general higher vocational college directly under the Yunnan Provincial Department of Transportation. The school was founded in 1953. In 2017, with the approval of the Yunnan Provincial People's Government and the filing of the Ministry of Education, the "Yunnan Vocational College of Transportation" was established on the basis of Yunnan Transportation Technician College, and the school was run under the "two brands, one team" approach. The school adheres to the integration of production and education, school-enterprise cooperation, the combination of work and study, and the unity of knowledge and practice, and builds a "college + high-skilled" technical and skilled personnel "double certificate" training model, becoming an applied technology-based higher vocational college integrating vocational education, social training, and skills appraisal, and coordinated development of production, learning, and research. The school headquarters is located in Anning City, a national-level new district in central Yunnan. The school covers an area of 1,705 mu and has a construction area of 284,000 square meters. It has 12 teaching departments, including the School of Automobile, School of Highway, School of Aviation, School of Shipping, School of Smart Transportation, School of Public Service and Management, etc. There are more than 900 faculty and staff and more than 15,000 students. At present, the school has 38 majors, covering the fields of automobile, highway, water transportation, aviation, transportation services, etc., forming a modern comprehensive transportation professional group with high-quality, high-skilled and practical talents as the main body; an average of more than 200,000 people in various trainings, examinations and trainings each year. The school advocates the school-running philosophy of "entering the school is entering the factory, practical training is going to work, cultivating professional literacy, and creating the spirit of craftsmanship", and adheres to the development path of combining work and study, combining production and education, and school-enterprise cooperation. The university has established four major teaching and production entities, including the Automobile Driving and Safety Teaching Department and Anda Auto Repair Factory, and several school-enterprise cooperation joint-stock companies, including Yingmao Anda Shanghai Volkswagen and Anda Zhongji Automobile Sales Co., Ltd. It has co-built the Smart Transportation Industry College with Baidu, and has more than 30 school-enterprise cooperation training centers, including BMW, Porsche, Shanghai Volkswagen, Shanghai GM, FAW-Volkswagen, Kunming Pan American Inquiry, Xugong Group, Dongfeng Nissan, and Bosch. It has established cooperative relationships at different levels with more than 600 well-known domestic and foreign companies, and has become an important position for the cultivation of high-quality technical and skilled talents in transportation in Yunnan Province. The school is a member unit of the Automobile Special Committee of the National Transportation Vocational Education and Teaching Steering Committee, and is the chairman unit of the Yunnan New Energy Vehicle Industry-Education Integration Community (Vocational Education Group) and the Yunnan Aviation Industry-Education Integration Community (Vocational Education Group). It has been rated as a national demonstration college for transportation vocational education, a national college graduate employment ability training base, a "double high" school cultivation unit in Yunnan Province, a high-level A-level professional group construction project in Yunnan Province, and a national high-skilled talent training base. With the support of the competent industry departments, the school was selected as Yunnan’s first China training base for the WorldSkills Competition (44th, 45th and 46th sessions), the National Highway Science Education Base, Yunnan’s only automobile science and technology education practice science popularization base, a provincial campus entrepreneurship platform, Yunnan Province’s third batch of modern apprenticeship pilot units, Yunnan Province’s vocational education teacher training base, Yunnan Province’s public skills training base, Yunnan’s road traffic safety education base, Yunnan’s automobile maintenance talent, highway construction and maintenance talent, and inland waterway shipping talent training base. It has successively won honors such as “Yunnan Province’s Advanced Unit for the Cultivation of High-skilled Talents”, “National Skilled Talent Cultivation Outstanding Contribution Award”, “National Advanced Unit for Vocational Education”, “National Teaching Achievement Award (Vocational Education) Second Prize”, and “Yunnan Province Teaching Achievement Award First Prize (Vocational Education)”.
