Zhejiang Police College was founded in 1949. Its predecessor was the Hangzhou Public Security Personnel Training Class. It started academic education in 1978, was upgraded to an undergraduate college in 2007, and was granted the right to confer master's degrees in 2021. It is the only undergraduate college in Zhejiang Province that trains public security professionals. It undertakes undergraduate and postgraduate academic education, academic education for international students, on-the-job police training, foreign police training, public security theory research and practical services. It is the main channel for the province's public security to increase police force, the main position for on-the-job police training, the main platform for public security theory research, and the main force for major event security tasks. The school currently has two campuses in Binjiang and Lin'an, with a beautiful campus environment and complete teaching and research facilities. The discipline and professional construction is distinctive. Public security is included in the "14th Five-Year Plan" provincial first-class discipline A cultivation, public security technology and cyberspace security are included in the provincial first-class discipline B, foreign-related police, network security and law enforcement, public security, traffic management engineering and other 4 majors are national first-class undergraduate professional construction points, investigation, criminal science and technology, economic crime investigation, police command and tactics and other 4 majors are provincial first-class undergraduate professional construction points. The school has built a national talent training model innovation experimental area, a national college student off-campus practice education base, 8 national first-class courses, 2 national quality courses, and compiled 8 national planning textbooks. It has won 4 first prizes and 6 second prizes in provincial and ministerial teaching achievement awards. The school has the qualification to grant a master's degree in police work, and has two training directions: smart policing, "Fengqiao Experience" and social governance. It cultivates high-level applied police professionals who understand both theory and practice for public security organs. The school has a team of teachers with high teaching level, profound academic attainments, rich experience in public security practice, excellent quality and reasonable structure. There are 488 faculty members, including 325 teachers, 33 senior professional titles, 100 associate senior professional titles, and 122 doctoral degrees. There are 3 national outstanding teachers, 8 national outstanding teachers in the public security system, 6 provincial and ministerial teaching masters, 1 provincial subject leader, 8 provincial young and middle-aged subject leaders training targets, 14 third-level training targets of the "151" talent project, and 14 provincial college leading talent training targets. 3 national public security education outstanding groups, 1 provincial college high-level innovation team, and 1 provincial excellent public security grassroots unit. The school has 4 provincial and ministerial scientific research platforms, 6 provincial experimental teaching demonstration sites for undergraduate colleges, 7 experimental teaching centers (with 54 laboratories), and 29 practical training teaching venues such as a multi-functional indoor shooting range. The library has a collection of 889,000 paper documents, 784 Chinese and foreign paper newspapers and periodicals, 1.93 million electronic books, and 22 digital resource libraries. It is one of the first digital campus demonstration schools in Zhejiang Province. The school actively carries out international academic exchanges and has established cooperative relations with universities or police agencies in more than 10 countries, including the United States, Britain, Spain, South Korea, Japan, and Italy. It cooperates with relevant departments of well-known universities such as Tsinghua University, Peking University, Zhejiang University, and China Criminal Police College to cultivate top innovative talents. On average, more than 100 students are selected to study in domestic and foreign universities each year. The school recruits foreign students every year to carry out international police talent training.
