Zhejiang Shuren University was founded in 1984. It is an undergraduate university run by social forces, founded by the Zhejiang Provincial Political Consultative Conference, coordinated by the provincial government, and supervised by the Provincial Department of Education. In 2004, Comrade Xi Jinping visited the school while working in Zhejiang, highly affirmed the school's path of running schools and put forward earnest hopes. Over the past 40 years, the school's educational quality has steadily improved, its social reputation has continued to improve, and it has trained nearly 120,000 graduates. In 2015, the school was identified as one of the first batch of application-oriented pilot demonstration schools in Zhejiang Province. The school currently has two campuses in Hangzhou Gongchenqiao and Shaoxing Yangxunqiao, covering an area of more than 1,230 acres and a total construction area of about 660,000 square meters. There are 12 secondary colleges, including Shulan International Medical College, with more than 18,000 students. The total value of teaching and research equipment assets is about 380 million yuan, the total collection of the library is more than 2.1 million books, and there are about 1 million electronic books. The school insists on taking discipline construction as the guide. The disciplines cover 8 major disciplines, including medicine, literature, economics, management, science, law, engineering, and art, forming a discipline and professional system with solid foundation and coordinated development of multiple disciplines. There are currently 5 provincial first-class disciplines and 4 key discipline platforms for school construction. There are 16 secondary colleges, education centers, and research institutes, including Shulan International Medical College led by academicians, offering 52 undergraduate majors and 8 junior college majors, including 1 national first-class undergraduate major, 1 national characteristic major, 4 provincial key majors, 11 provincial first-class undergraduate majors, and 4 provincial "13th Five-Year Plan" advantages and emerging characteristic majors. More than 3,000 courses are offered, including 2 national first-class undergraduate courses and 106 provincial first-class undergraduate courses. Based on the strategic needs of interdisciplinary integration and development, the school is accelerating the construction of platforms such as the Interdisciplinary Science Research Institute, "Medical Engineering and Information" Research and Modern Service Industry Base. The school adheres to the strategy of strengthening the school with talents. There are more than 1,400 faculty and staff, including more than 1,100 full-time teachers, 418 doctors, and 338 teachers with senior professional titles. The school has more than 10 high-level talents, including academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, foreign academicians, national teaching masters, national outstanding young scientists, and experts enjoying special allowances from the State Council; it has introduced and trained more than 70 high-level talents, including national outstanding teachers, provincial teaching masters, provincial "Ten Thousand Talents Plan" young top talents, and provincial young and middle-aged discipline leaders. The school is committed to the cultivation of advanced application-oriented talents. It has established 12 industry colleges, including "Smart Health Care Industry College", "Shulan International Nursing College", and "Shaoxing Yellow Wine College". The Smart Health Care Industry College is the first batch of 21 provincial key modern industry colleges in Zhejiang Province. There are 223 off-campus internship and training bases, including 1 national off-campus practical education base for college students, 3 provincial off-campus practical education bases for college students, 1 provincial modern industry college, and 3 provincial production-education integration demonstration bases. The school focuses on the organic integration of professional education and dual-innovation education, and has built a "one park, three zones, two spaces and one center" innovation and entrepreneurship practice space for college students. It won the first prize in the National College Student Structural Design Competition and the silver medal in the China "Internet +" College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. In the past three years, the school has won more than 1,000 national and provincial college student science and technology competition awards, the employment rate of graduates has remained above 97%, and the entrepreneurship rate has remained in the top ten undergraduate colleges in the province. The school adheres to the leadership of party building and continuously deepens the work of cultivating people with morality. For five consecutive years, it has been ranked among the top ten universities in Zhejiang Province (undergraduate) in terms of comprehensive new media, and has won the Zhejiang Education New Media Advanced Worker Award four times and the Zhejiang Education New Media Excellent Case Award twice.
