Zhejiang Sports Vocational and Technical College was officially established in July 2006 with the approval of the provincial government. It is a provincial full-time higher vocational college under the jurisdiction of the Provincial Sports Bureau and under the guidance of the Provincial Department of Education. It features competitive sports majors and takes the cultivation of first-class competitive sports talents with all-round development as its fundamental task. Since its establishment, the college has always adhered to the school-running purpose of "educating people to create excellent results", practiced the school motto of "Mingde, wisdom, and courage", promoted and continuously strengthened the construction of a diversified campus culture with "gold medal culture" as the core, and constructed and continuously improved the "training and learning integration" education model, and is committed to talent training, training, teaching, scientific research, social services and cultural inheritance innovation. The college has 8 party and government management agencies, including the College Office, Party Committee Office, Organization and Personnel Office, Training Office, Teaching and Student Management Office, Scientific Research Office, Planning and Finance Office and Comprehensive Management Office (Security Office), 9 teaching (training) institutions (including 6 competitive sports departments and sports departments, affiliated sports schools and continuing education centers) and 3 teaching auxiliary institutions (Library Information Center, Affiliated Sports Hospital, Physical Training and Scientific Research Center). The Department of Competitive Sports is divided into sports events and project groups, and is responsible for the training, competition management, and technical teaching and daily management of provincial outstanding sports teams such as track and field (including some winter events), swimming, table tennis, badminton, tennis, gymnastics (rhythmic gymnastics), trampoline skills, basketball, volleyball (beach volleyball), boxing, weightlifting, taekwondo, judo, martial arts (routines, Sanda), and wrestling; the Department of Physical Education, the Affiliated Sports School, and the Continuing Education Center are responsible for the multi-level education and teaching management work including higher vocational education (college level), secondary vocational education (high school level), junior high school, primary school (nine-year compulsory education level), continuing education, vocational skills training, etc., and jointly train undergraduates with Zhejiang University, Beijing Sport University and other universities in and outside the province in different ways. Since its establishment, the college's athletes have repeatedly achieved great success in domestic and international sports events. Since its establishment in 2006, it has won 13 Olympic gold medals, 83 world championships, 72 Asian Games championships, and a total of 113 National Games championships, defending the honor of Zhejiang having gold medals in every Olympic Games since China resumed participating in the Olympic Games in 1984. The provincial government has awarded the college four collective first-class merits, and a group of outstanding athletes, coaches and sports workers have been commended and rewarded by the Party Central Committee, the State Council, the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial Government and relevant departments. The college currently has 1,193 students (including 593 higher vocational students) and 6 higher vocational majors. Among them, the sports training major is a provincial college "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" advantage major construction project, and three majors such as social sports, sports health care and rehabilitation, and sports operations and management are provincial colleges "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" characteristic major construction projects. A total of 26 internship (training) bases inside and outside the school have been built, and one Zhejiang Province "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" higher vocational education demonstration training base. The college has completed 3 national projects, 31 provincial and ministerial projects, 108 departmental projects, and 10 other projects. It has won 1 first prize in the Outstanding Achievement Award of Sports Philosophy and Social Sciences of the State Sports General Administration, 1 third prize in the Olympic Research Project, and 1 first prize in the Scientific Research Achievement of Higher Education Institutions of the Provincial Department of Education. In cooperation with Zhejiang University, it won 1 first prize in the Science and Technology Progress Award of the Ministry of Education. In 2021, it won the Special Prize of Zhejiang Province Teaching Achievement Award. The employment rate of higher vocational graduates from 2011 to 2021 has remained stable at more than 91%, and the initial employment rate of graduates in 2021 has now reached 96.4%. The college currently has 155 sports coaches and 83 full-time teachers in higher vocational colleges (28 of whom are also coaches), including 24 national coaches and 73 senior coaches; 2 professors, 18 associate professors; 2 doctoral students, 63 master students; 9 leaders of higher vocational majors in Zhejiang Province. Six coaches have been selected for the "Elite Coaches Double Hundred Training Program" of the State Sports General Administration, and one doctor has been selected for the "Hundred Talents Program" of the State Sports General Administration's outstanding young and middle-aged professional and technical talents. The college covers a total area of about 706.5 acres and a total construction area of about 342,400 square meters. It has two campuses in Xiaoshan and Jiaogong Road, and multiple teaching sites such as Qiandao Lake, Changxing, Xiangshan, and sports venues such as Gudang and Coral Sand. It has built training bases for swimming projects of the State Sports General Administration and the State Sports General Administration's Key Laboratory of Aquatic Sports Science. It has first-class sports training venues in China, the most abundant sports literature collection in the province, and a library with rich sports discipline characteristics in terms of system and collection, a sports hospital that serves competitive sports and takes into account social service functions, and a professional physical training and rehabilitation center and other competitive sports science and technology research service institutions.
