Zhejiang Tourism Vocational College is the only public higher vocational college in China jointly established by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Provincial People's Government. The school is located in Hangzhou, a famous historical and cultural city and scenic tourist destination in China. It has two campuses in Hangzhou and Qiandao Lake, covering a total area of 1,080 acres and a total construction area of about 270,000 square meters. The two campuses complement the Qiantang River and Qiandao Lake respectively. The Hangzhou campus is a national 4A-level tourist attraction, and the Qiandao Lake campus is surrounded by mountains and lakes, enjoying the resources of 5A-level scenic spots, making it an ideal place for learning. The school was formerly the Zhejiang Tourism Workers Secondary Vocational School founded in 1983 and upgraded to Zhejiang Tourism Vocational College in 2000. The school is a high-level higher vocational school and professional construction unit with Chinese characteristics, a national high-quality junior college, a national demonstrative backbone higher vocational college, the first batch of tourism standardization demonstration units of the former National Tourism Administration, and the first batch of excellent units for the pilot of education informatization of the Ministry of Education. For many consecutive years, it has won the "Top 50 Service Contributions", "Top 50 International Influences" and "Top 50 Education Results" of national higher vocational colleges. It was selected as a typical school for service contribution of higher vocational colleges and an excellent school in the teacher development index, and won the highest award in China's vocational education - the National Huang Yanpei Vocational Education "Excellent School Award". Zhejiang Tourism Vocational College is a distinctive tourism vocational college. The school has 13 teaching units, including the School of Hotel Management, School of Travel Service and Management, School of Tourism Planning and Design, School of Culinary Arts, School of Tourism Foreign Languages, School of Art, School of Business Administration, Qiandao Lake Campus Management Committee (Qiandao Lake International Hotel Management College), Xu Xiake Innovation and Entrepreneurship College, School of Continuing Education, School of International Education, Department of Public Teaching, School of Marxism, etc. It has opened 30 tourism majors such as tour guide, hotel management and digital operation, study tour management and service, Western cooking technology, and flight attendants. Among them, there are 1 national and provincial high-level professional groups, 8 national backbone key construction majors, 2 majors supported by the central government, 16 majors of tourism education quality certification of the World Tourism Organization, 3 pilot majors of the modern apprenticeship system of the Ministry of Education, 2 national vocational college tourism demonstration majors, 4 provincial demonstration key construction majors, 7 provincial advantage majors, and 5 provincial characteristic majors. A national teaching resource library has been built. The school adheres to the school-running philosophy of "relying on the industry, combining industry and academia, and connecting with the international community". The school-running level and comprehensive strength have been firmly in the forefront of tourism-related higher vocational colleges in the country. It has one national vocational education demonstration virtual simulation training base cultivation project, and has built and put into use one vocational education training base supported by the central government and 13 provincial training bases, including 6 provincial "13th Five-Year Plan" higher vocational education demonstration training bases. It has the only tourism-themed museum in the country-Zhejiang Tourism Museum, and has Zhejiang Provincial Institute of Culture and Tourism Development, Zhejiang Provincial Cultural and Tourism Think Tank, Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism Statistical Data Center, China Tourism Research Institute Tourism Standardization Research Base, Zhejiang Rural Tourism Application Technology Collaborative Innovation Center, Zhejiang Tourism Science Research Institute, Zhejiang Tourism Development Research Center, Zhejiang Tourism Training Center, Zhejiang Provincial Culture and Tourism Standardization Technical Committee and Zhejiang Smart Tourism Experience Center. In terms of school-enterprise cooperation, the school has signed cooperation agreements with more than 80 counties (cities and districts) in the province and more than 190 well-known domestic and foreign companies such as Alibaba Group, Kaiyuan Hotel Group, and Wuzhen Tourism Group. It has co-built 16 industrial colleges with Hyatt, Kaiyuan, Snail and other companies, and has established 15 modern apprenticeship classes, forming a multi-party linkage school-running mechanism with the focus on provincial and ministerial co-construction and the support of department (bureau) and school co-construction. Zhejiang Tourism Vocational College adheres to the school motto of "inspiration, truth, fraternity, and refinement" and is committed to creating an international educational environment and a high-quality teaching team. The school is one of the first batch of international characteristic universities in Zhejiang Province, the first batch of higher vocational colleges in Zhejiang Province with the qualifications to recruit foreign students, and the first batch of "China-US High-quality Skilled and Application-oriented Talents Joint Training Hundreds of Millions of Exchange Plan" project colleges in the country. There is currently a non-independent legal person Sino-foreign cooperative education institution-China-Australia International Hotel Management College. The school actively responded to the "Belt and Road" initiative and established three overseas schools, namely the China-Russia Tourism College, the China-Serbia Tourism College and the China-Italy Culinary Institute. All of them were successfully selected as the first batch of "Belt and Road Silk Road Colleges" in Zhejiang Province, and the China-Serbia Tourism College was selected as the first batch of Luban Workshop operation projects in the country. The school has established cooperative and exchange relations with international organizations such as the United Nations World Tourism Organization, the World Tourism Alliance, the World Association of Vocational Colleges and Technical Universities, and the World Federation of Chefs, and is the chairman unit of the Zhejiang-Hong Kong Vocational Education Alliance. The school has established long-term and stable cooperative relations with more than 40 universities in 18 countries and regions, including the Lausanne Hotel Management School in Switzerland, William Angliss College in Australia, Sheffield Hallam University in the UK, ALMA International Catering School in Italy, Russian State University of Tourism and Service, Soonchunhyang University in South Korea, and Kaohsiung University of Hospitality and Tourism in Taiwan. It has established close cooperative relations with more than 80 world-leading tourism companies such as the Walt Disney Company in the United States, Dubai Luxury Hotel Group in the United Arab Emirates, Costa Cruises Group in Italy, and Japanese Hot Spring Hotel. Every year, more than 10% of the graduates go abroad for study, training, internship, and visiting. At the same time, nearly 100 international students from South Korea, Japan, Russia, the Netherlands and other countries are recruited every year. 85% of the front-line teachers and managers have experience in studying, training, and visiting abroad. In 2017, the overall level of internationalization ranked first among the higher vocational colleges in the province; since 2017, it has been rated as one of the "Top 50 International Influence" of higher vocational colleges in the country for three consecutive years. By the end of 2023, the school has 13,007 full-time students and 741 faculty members, including 191 teachers with associate senior titles or above, and more than 90% of them are "dual-qualified" teachers. Among them, there is 1 outstanding expert from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, 4 experts from the Higher Vocational and Technical College Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education, 5 national tourism youth experts, 6 experts from the Provincial Teaching Steering Committee, 1 Zhejiang Provincial Subject Leader, and 23 Zhejiang Provincial Higher Vocational and Technical College Professional Leaders. The school has 1 national teaching team, 1 national teacher teaching innovation team, and 3 provincial teacher teaching innovation teams. There are 10 national social science fund projects and more than 150 provincial and ministerial scientific research projects; 27 provincial and ministerial leaders have been approved. It has taken the lead in formulating and revising 1 international tourism standard, 2 national vocational and technical standards, 3 national professional teaching standards, 2 national standards, and 9 industry standards, and won the title of "National Excellent Organization for Tourism Standardization". The school has won 3 national teaching achievement awards and 11 provincial teaching achievement awards; won 2 national excellent textbook awards, and 14 textbooks have been selected for the national "14th Five-Year Plan"; 2 national quality resource sharing courses, 5 national online quality courses, and 11 provincial quality online open courses; 2 national ideological and political demonstration courses, and 17 provincial ideological and political demonstration courses.
