Zhengzhou Academy of Fine Arts is a full-time undergraduate institution approved by the Ministry of Education. Its predecessor was the Yiston Academy of Fine Arts of Zhengzhou University of Light Industry, which was founded in 2001. In June 2023, it was approved by the Ministry of Education to be separated as Zhengzhou Academy of Fine Arts. Since its establishment, the school has always adhered to the leadership of the Party, fully implemented the Party's education policy, adhered to the socialist direction of running schools, implemented the fundamental task of cultivating people with moral integrity, and cultivated socialist builders and successors with all-round development of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics and labor. The school aims to "create a high-level and distinctive art college", adheres to the school-running purpose of "combining the strengths of hundreds of schools and creating self-style", adheres to the school-running philosophy of "people-oriented, quality-oriented, reform and innovation, and serving the society", and establishes the development ideas of "people-oriented, quality-oriented; teacher-oriented, talent-oriented; scientific management, rule of law; reform and innovation, characteristic and famous schools", and actively explores the distinctive characteristics of art education and school-running. The school has two first-level disciplines, Fine Arts and Design, covering 10 undergraduate majors, including 4 fine arts majors, namely painting, sculpture, calligraphy, and Chinese painting, and 6 design majors, namely visual communication design, environmental design, clothing and apparel design, product design, digital media art, and arts and crafts. There is currently 1 provincial key discipline construction site (fine arts and calligraphy), 2 provincial first-class undergraduate major construction sites (sculpture, clothing and apparel design), 3 provincial first-class undergraduate courses, 2 provincial boutique online open courses, 3 provincial course ideological and political model courses, 2 provincial first batch of "specialty and innovation integration" characteristic demonstration courses, 2 provincial undergraduate college research teaching demonstration courses, 1 provincial excellent grassroots teaching organization, 6 provincial college students' off-campus practical education bases, and 1 provincial teaching achievement award second prize. The school attaches importance to practice education and strengthens practical teaching. There are art exhibition centers, three sketching parks for plants, animals and stone carvings, five professional training places for college students, innovation and entrepreneurship training bases, clothing production technology training workshops, sculpture workshops, and printing and dyeing technology training centers on campus, as well as 40 professional studios such as digital sculptures, fashion products, wood products, and lacquer paintings. Intangible cultural heritage inheritors have been hired to set up three intangible cultural heritage project transmission centers for Zhuxian Town woodblock New Year paintings, paper cutting, and Bian embroidery on campus. There are more than 100 off-campus practice bases outside the school to fully meet the practical training needs of applied talent training. The school insists on open education and strengthens academic exchanges. Excellent experts are invited to teach and lecture at the school all year round; they actively host professional exhibitions such as "Taihang Remaining Rhythm-Taihang Mountain Sketching Exhibition of Art Teachers in Henan Universities", "The 11th Watercolor and Pastel Painting Exhibition in Henan Province", and "Painting Exhibition of Art Teachers in Henan Universities"; for many years, graduation design exhibitions have been held open to the public in Henan Museum, Henan Art Museum, etc. The school insists on the integration of industry and education and serves the society. In recent years, we have completed a series of social service projects, including the planning and design of beautiful rural landscape in Xinzheng City, the planning of Bali Tang Cultural and Creative Park in Luoyang, the protection and renovation of the historical block of Xufu Street in the ancient city of Kaifeng, and the conceptual landscape design of Jialu River in Zhengzhou. In the past five years, we have organized and guided students to participate in exhibitions and competitions and won 1,498 awards, and more than 700 international and national awards. In the first National College Students' Art Exhibition, 8 works were selected in the province, of which 3 were from our school. In the 13th Henan Provincial Art Exhibition, 87 works by teachers and students were selected and 35 were awarded; among them, 50 works by students were selected, and the number of selected works ranked among the top universities in the province. In the 13th National Art Exhibition, 10 works by teachers and students were selected. Student works won the only gold medal (Qian Shaowu Academic Award) at the 12th National College Graduates' Excellent Sculpture Exhibition and other awards. The wind is strong and the sails are full of new ambitions, and we will strive for a new journey.
