Zhengzhou Institute of Aeronautical Industry Management is located in Zhengzhou, a famous historical and cultural city in China. It is located in the southern part of the North China Plain, facing the Yellow River to the north and Songshan Mountain to the west. It has convenient transportation and is the only full-time undergraduate college in Henan Province with distinctive aviation characteristics. The school was founded in 1949, the same age as the Republic, and was then called Pingyuan Provincial School of Finance and Economics. In 1964, 16 aviation schools across the country were adjusted and renamed Zhengzhou Aviation Industry School. In 1978, it was upgraded to Zhengzhou Aviation Industry Management College. In 1984, it was upgraded to Zhengzhou Institute of Aeronautical Industry Management (undergraduate), and in 1989, it obtained the right to confer bachelor's degrees. It was successively affiliated to the Ministry of Aviation Industry, the Ministry of Aerospace Industry, and China Aviation Industry Corporation. In 1999, the school's affiliation changed from being supervised by China Aviation Industry Corporation to being jointly built by the central and local governments, with daily management mainly in Henan Province. In 2009, it passed the review of the project construction of the master's unit, and in 2013, it was approved as a master's degree-granting unit. In 2017, it was selected as a university in the National Basic Capacity Construction Project for Colleges and Universities in Central and Western China. In December 2017, it became a university jointly built by the People's Government of Henan Province and the Civil Aviation Administration of China, and entered the ranks of provincial and ministerial co-construction universities. In 2020, it was selected as a university for the construction of characteristic backbone disciplines in Henan Province. In 2021, it was approved as a general project construction unit for doctoral degrees in Henan Province. The school adheres to the school motto of "rigorous, realistic, pioneering, and enterprising", adheres to the school-running philosophy of "moral education first, teaching center, quality first, and education-oriented", adheres to the aerospace industry and regional economic and social development, and adheres to the discipline and professional construction ideas of "strengthening aerospace engineering, refining traditional economics and management disciplines, and building aerospace engineering-based, multi-disciplinary coordinated development", and has established a strong advantage in the field of aviation industry management and technology application research. The school covers an area of more than 1,700 acres, with a building area of 1.09 million square meters and an experimental area of 106,000 square meters. The total value of fixed assets is more than 1.811 billion yuan, and the total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is 380 million yuan. The library currently has a collection of 2.638 million books, 580,300 electronic books, 1.4963 million electronic journals, 622 paper journals, and 36 Chinese and foreign databases. The school has eight major disciplines: engineering, management, literature, science, economics, law, art, and education. It has 19 teaching colleges (departments), 1 college, 1 Sino-foreign cooperative institution-South Ural College, and 1 School of Continuing Education. There are 7 first-level master's degree authorization points, 15 professional master's degree authorization points, 2 provincial characteristic backbone discipline groups, 1 provincial special and urgent characteristic backbone discipline group, 3 provincial key first-level disciplines, and 4 provincial key second-level disciplines. There are 65 undergraduate enrollment majors, including 3 national characteristic majors and 9 provincial characteristic majors; 13 national first-class undergraduate major construction points, 12 provincial first-class undergraduate major construction points, and 9 provincial comprehensive reform pilot projects; 11 national first-class undergraduate courses and 72 provincial first-class undergraduate courses. Two achievements won the second prize of the National Teaching Achievement Award for Higher Education (Undergraduate). The school recruits students from 31 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) across the country. All ordinary undergraduate majors in Henan Province are included in the first batch of enrollment. There are currently 26,120 full-time undergraduates, postgraduates and international students. Interdisciplinary scientific research platforms such as the UAV Research Institute and the Big Data Science Research Institute have been established. The university attaches great importance to international exchanges and cooperation, and has established friendly cooperative relations with 73 universities in more than 30 countries including the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Poland, South Korea, Tanzania, etc., and has carried out international exchanges and cooperation in various forms, in-depth and wide fields. The university has organized undergraduate Sino-foreign cooperative education projects with the University of the Highlands and Islands in the UK and the University of Humanities and Social Sciences in Warsaw, Poland, achieving full coverage of projects and institutions in the field of Sino-foreign cooperative education in the school; it has cooperated with the University of Dodoma in Tanzania to establish a Confucius Institute, and won the titles of "Advanced Confucius Institute", "Advanced Unit of Public Diplomacy", and "China-Tanzania Friendship Envoy Award"; it has built the first French Alliance "Zhengzhou French Alliance" in the province and the ICAO/FIATA Air Transport Dangerous Goods Training Center.
