Zhongshan Vocational and Technical College is located in Zhongshan City, Guangdong Province, the hometown of Mr. Sun Yat-sen, the pioneer of my country's great democratic revolution. It is a full-time general college invested and established by the municipal government, covering an area of 810 acres. Founded in December 2004, it is a "national high-quality junior college", "national demonstration vocational education group (alliance) cultivation unit", "Guangdong Demonstration Higher Vocational College", "Guangdong Province First-class Higher Vocational College Construction Unit" and "Provincial High-level Higher Vocational College" Construction Unit, and is listed in the "Top 50 National Higher Vocational College Service Contribution" and "Top 50 National Higher Vocational College Teaching Management". It has won the "Huang Yanpei Vocational Education Excellent School Award", "National Higher Vocational College Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Advanced Unit", "Guangdong Province Intellectual Property Demonstration Institution", "Guangdong Province University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Demonstration School (2022-2025)", "Guangdong Province Safety and Civilization Campus" and other honorary titles. Over the years, the total score of students participating in the National Vocational College Skills Competition has remained in the top five higher vocational colleges in the province, and the employer satisfaction ranks second among higher vocational colleges in the province. The overall school strength ranks among the top higher vocational colleges in the province. The school has the School of Marxism, the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (Quality Education Center), the School of Economics and Management, the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the School of Information Engineering, the School of Art and Design, the School of Educational Sciences and the School of Continuing Education (International Education College). There are more than 11,800 full-time students and more than 4,500 adult education students. Guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the school implements the Party’s education policy, implements the fundamental task of cultivating people with moral integrity, vigorously implements education and teaching reforms, closely follows the characteristics of Zhongshan’s industrial structure to implement the “professional docking industry” layout, and has built 39 majors and 7 major professional groups that are highly connected with the modern service industry, advanced manufacturing, and strategic emerging industries in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, achieving seamless connection between “professional-industry” and “talent-market”. It has a number of key majors that are closely related to national key industries and Zhongshan's pillar industries, including 2 key majors supported by the central government and 6 national key majors; 6 provincial high-level professional groups, 9 provincial key majors, 2 provincial first-class brand construction majors, 8 provincial second-class brand (including construction) majors, and 6 first-class school high-level construction majors. Elevator maintenance and management, lighting design and technology, and entrepreneurship management are the first majors opened in higher vocational colleges in the country. The school has built 192 on-campus practical teaching sites and 314 off-campus practical teaching sites. The central government supports 3 training bases, 4 national on-campus practical teaching bases or training bases, 15 provincial on-campus practical teaching bases or training bases, 16 provincial off-campus practical teaching bases for college students, and 2 provincial collaborative education bases. The school currently has 19 technology innovation platforms at or above the municipal and departmental level, undertakes more than 600 scientific research projects at or above the municipal and departmental level, and its research results have won the China Patent Excellence Award and the Guangdong Provincial Philosophy and Social Science Outstanding Achievement Award. The Zhongshan University Student Entrepreneurship Incubation Base operated and managed by the school won the title of "National Entrepreneurship Incubation Demonstration Base" and became the only national entrepreneurship incubation base and national mass innovation space in Guangdong Province. Innovation and entrepreneurship have become a trend, and a large number of teachers and students who have devoted themselves to new industries, new formats and new models have emerged. The school has built a continuing education service platform for improving the quality of the population in professional towns, and has undertaken more than 200,000 training sessions of various types.
