Introduction: Haramaya University is a public research university in Haramaya, Oromia Region, Ethiopia, located about 510 km east of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and plays an important role in higher education and scientific research in Ethiopia.

Overview: In the 2017-2018 academic year, there were 30,355 students and a total of 7,850 faculty and staff, including 5,290 administrative staff. The school has a wide range of disciplines, covering agriculture, law, business and other fields.

History: In 1954, it was established as the "Haramaya University College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences" and is part of Addis Ababa University. On May 27, 1985, it was transformed into an agricultural university. In 1996, it was restructured into a multidisciplinary university. In 2006, it was officially renamed "Haramaya University". In September 2002, the School of Law and the School of Business and Economics were opened.
