Introduction

Åbo Akademi University is the only multidisciplinary comprehensive university in Finland that teaches in Swedish. It is famous for its high-quality research and education. Through cross-border cooperation, it has become the gateway to Finland for Nordic countries.

History and establishment time

The university was founded in 1918 by the Swedish-speaking minority in Finland to protect its culture and education. In 1981 It was a private institution before 1990, and then it became a public university.

Expenses

Tuition fees: Students who are not citizens of EU/EEA countries and do not have permanent residency in Finland are required to pay tuition fees, such as 10,000 euros/year for the Master of Advanced Practice Nursing program in 2025 and 12,000 euros/year for the Master of Biomedical Imaging program.

Scholarships: The school offers scholarships to international students.

Campus distribution: The main campus is located in the city center of Turku, the sixth largest city in Finland, and the Faculty of Education and Welfare Studies is located in Vaasa. Both cities are famous academic cities.
