In 1986, it began to use the name of Széchenyi István University. In 1995, Ertvos Eötván University established a law major here. In 2002, the school was renamed Széchenyi István University. In 2015, the major became the school's own project, and in 2015, it cooperated with Audi Hungary to establish Audi Hungary Automotive Engineering College.
