Introduction
Carmelite Institute of Britain and Ireland (CIBI) is a Carmelite Institute jointly established by the Carmelites of Ireland, Britain and Anglo-Irish Carmelites to provide distance education/online courses in Carmelite Theology at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Student size: Since its establishment in 2005, 90 students have started the first two programs, with students from Ireland, the United Kingdom, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Malaysia, Norway, the United States and other countries.

On October 6, 2009, CIBI's first batch of students graduated from Milltown Institute of Theology in Dublin.
From its inception until its closure in 2015, CIBI's courses were accredited by Milltown Institute of Theology, and then by St. Patrick's College in Maynooth (Pontifical University).
In 2012, CIBI opened a master's program, which was then accredited by York St. John's University in the UK. From 2016, it was accredited by St. Patrick's College in Maynooth as a master's program in theology.
