Introduction to the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA):

Introduction: The Catholic University of Eastern Africa is a private university located in Nairobi, Kenya. Its motto is "Consecrate them in the truth". It is actively committed to academic research, teaching and community service to cultivate outstanding talents for the church and society.

History and establishment time:

On September 3, 1984, it was established as a graduate school of theology and named Catholic Higher Institute of Eastern Africa (CHIEA).

On August 18, 1985, it was officially opened by Pope John Paul II.

In 1989, it obtained the "Provisional Authorization".

On November 3, 1992, it obtained the Civil Charter and was renamed the Catholic University of Eastern Africa.

In 2002, the School of Science and the School of Business were established; in 2003, the Center for Social Justice and Ethics was established; in 2004, the School of Law was established; in 2009, the School of Continuing Professional Development was established, and branches were opened in Eldoret and Kisumu; in 2013, a new campus was opened in the I&M Building in Nairobi's central business district.

Student Size: By 2020, there will be about 6,000 undergraduates and about 2,000 postgraduates.

Campus environment:

Campus location: The main campus is located in Langata in the southwest of Nairobi, and the satellite campuses are located in Eldoret, Kisumu and other places, and there is also a campus in Nairobi’s central business district.

Facilities: The campus’ Learning Resource Center is a model of ecologically sustainable design in the region, including a 3,000-seat modern library, a 1,200-seat state-of-the-art auditorium, and a 500-seat cafeteria. The buildings are connected by covered walkways with outdoor seating, and the central plaza features a fountain and a statue of Pope Paul VI.
