History
The idea of a technical and vocational school was first proposed by Chief Lerotholi in 1894.
The school was officially established in 1905 with only about 50 students, and the first teaching building was built, offering various trade courses.
In 1929, new skills and trades were added to the curriculum.
In 1960, the school was transformed into a craftsman-oriented institution.
In the 1970s and 1980s, two new schools, the Commercial Training College and the Technical Training School, were established.
In 1991, the three schools merged to become Lerotholi Polytechnic.
In 1997, the Lesotho government granted it autonomy through the Lerotholi Polytechnic Act.
