In 2019, Kamuzu Nursing College (established in 1965) and Medical College (established in 1991) merged to form Kamuzu University of Health Sciences by Act of Parliament. On May 4, 2021, the Malawi Ministry of Education Gazette identified it as the starting date of the establishment of Kamuzu University of Health Sciences.
