Introduction to Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR):
Basic Overview
Established in 2011 by an Act of Parliament and started operations on July 1, 2012.
Institutional Nature: Public University in Malawi.
Location: Located in the Bunda area of Lilongwe, the capital of Malawi.
School Size: More than 8,000 students.
History: The predecessor of the school was the Bunda Agricultural College established in 1967. In 2011, the Malawi government decided to merge the Bunda Agricultural College with the Kabete, Kawinga and Natural Resources Colleges to form the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
Educational Philosophy: With the motto of "Knowledge, Innovation and Excellence", it is committed to becoming a world-class university with the mission of improving knowledge and cultivating graduates with entrepreneurial skills through teaching, training, research, extension consultation and good management, promoting agricultural development, food security, wealth creation and sustainable management of natural resources.
