Introduction to the Solomon Islands National University:
Basic Overview
Established in 2013.
Nature of the institution: Public university.
Geographical location: The main campus is located in Honiara, the capital of the Solomon Islands. There are also campuses in Poitete in the Western Province and Kukum and Panatina in the capital Honiara.
Historical evolution: Its predecessor was the Solomon Islands College of Higher Education (SICHE), which was established by an Act of Parliament in 1984 and integrated several schools including the Solomon Islands Teachers College and the Public Administration Training School. In 2008, the government realized the need to diversify the scope of training and revised the relevant bills. Then the Solomon Islands National University was officially established in 2013.

School Strength
Teaching Staff: We have a team of experienced and professional teachers who have high attainments in their respective fields.
Subject Coverage: Covers business, tourism, science, technology, nursing, medicine, health sciences, agriculture, fisheries, forestry, education, humanities and other fields.
Key Subjects: Although there are no particularly prominent key subjects at present, there are certain disciplinary advantages and development potential in areas closely related to the economic development of the Solomon Islands, such as marine science, fishery management, agriculture, forestry, and tourism management.
Faculties and Schools: There are five colleges and a distance and flexible learning center, namely the School of Business and Tourism Studies, the School of Science and Technology, the School of Nursing Medicine and Health Sciences, the School of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, and the School of Education and Humanities.
Campus Environment: The campus environment is beautiful, with green trees, modern teaching facilities and library resources, providing students with a good learning and living environment.
