From 1985 to 1991, the University of Paris X established the Law, Economics, Languages, and Human Sociology Education Division in the Yvelines Department of Greater Paris, which is its predecessor. From 1987 to 1991, the University of Paris VI established the Basic Science Education Division in Versailles. In September 1991, the University Technology Center and some research laboratories were established in Verizy. On July 22, 1991, the University of Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines-Versailles was officially established and was granted the status of a national university in 1996.
