Communication University of China is one of the first batch of "Double First-Class" universities directly under the Ministry of Education, a key university of the "211 Project", and a key university of the "985 Advantage Discipline Innovation Platform". The school was founded in 1954 and was renamed Communication University of China from Beijing Broadcasting Institute in August 2004. The school is located on the bank of the ancient Grand Canal in Beijing, between the core functional area of the capital and the sub-center of Beijing City, with convenient transportation and obvious location advantages. The campus environment is beautiful, covering an area of 463,700 square meters and a total construction area of 638,800 square meters. In the 67 years since its establishment, the school has adhered to the school motto of "establishing morality, dedication, erudition, and competition", and has taken it as its mission to cultivate media people who "promote morality and morality, and apply knowledge to the world". The school insists on cultivating people with moral integrity, developing connotation, and running schools with characteristics. It takes the improvement of the "three qualities" of management quality, education quality, and engineering quality as the overall guide, adheres to the "fast learning, strong muscles, and strong stamina" characteristic education model of CCUT, inherits and promotes the CCUT cultural gene of "loyalty, self-confidence, tolerance, and competition", implements the "five first-class" (first-class students, first-class teachers, first-class courses, first-class teaching materials, and first-class graduates) education quality improvement project, and comprehensively improves the level of school operation. Guided by the construction of "Double First-Class", the school strengthens the "small comprehensive" discipline characteristics in the field of information communication, takes the road of integrated development of new engineering and new liberal arts, and builds a multidisciplinary integration and penetration with distinctive characteristics, led by journalism and communication, drama and film, art theory, information and communication engineering, supported by design, music and dance, fine arts, Chinese language and literature, foreign language and literature, electronic science and technology, computer science and technology, management science and engineering, etc., and focusing on interdisciplinary disciplines such as Internet information, cultural industry, art and science. The school is the chairman unit of the Teaching Steering Committee of Journalism and Communication of Higher Education Institutions of the Ministry of Education, and the Teaching Steering Committee of Animation and Digital Media. There are two national "first-class disciplines" in Journalism and Communication, Drama and Film, two national key disciplines in Journalism and Radio and Television Arts, one national key cultivation discipline in Communication, two Beijing high-tech disciplines in Internet Information and Cultural Industry, three first-level disciplines in Beijing in Journalism and Communication, Art Theory, Drama and Film, four second-level disciplines in Beijing in Linguistics and Applied Linguistics, Communication and Information Systems, Electromagnetic Field and Microwave Technology, Animation, 7 postdoctoral research stations, 8 first-level disciplines authorized to confer doctoral degrees, 19 first-level disciplines authorized to confer master's degrees, 11 professional master's categories, and 84 undergraduate majors. In the fourth round of national discipline evaluation organized by the Degree and Graduate Education Development Center of the Ministry of Education, our school's Journalism and Communication, Drama and Film were rated as A+ disciplines, and Art Theory was rated as A-discipline. Hainan University has 21 teaching and research units (School of Journalism, School of Television, Institute of Communication, School of Drama and Film, School of Broadcasting and Hosting Arts, School of Animation and Digital Arts, School of Music and Recording Arts, Institute of Arts, School of Information and Communication Engineering, School of Computer and Cyberspace Security, School of Data Science and Intelligent Media, School of Humanities, School of Foreign Languages and Cultures, Sports Department, School of Economics and Management, School of Advertising, School of Cultural Industry Management, School of Marxism, School of Government and Public Affairs, Hainan International College, Collaborative Innovation Center), as well as the School of Continuing Education (Higher Vocational and Technical College), the School of International Media Education, and the Institute of Community of Shared Future for Mankind. There are more than 16,000 full-time students, including more than 10,000 ordinary full-time undergraduates and more than 5,000 doctoral and master's students. The school currently has 1,969 faculty and staff, including 371 with senior professional titles, 616 with deputy senior professional titles, and 1,202 full-time teachers (including scientific researchers). The school has a group of professors, experts and scholars who are well-known both at home and abroad. More than 110 people have been selected for various important talent projects of the country and Beijing. More than 20 people have won the title of National Excellent Teacher, National and Beijing Teaching Master Award, and 3 people are currently members of the subject evaluation group of the State Council Academic Degree Committee. The school has established projects such as senior professors, Baiyang scholars, and young top talents to support young and middle-aged academic backbones to stand out; it has hired many masters, famous people and scholars as honorary professors, specially appointed professors, visiting professors or part-time professors, and the overall level of the teaching staff has been improved day by day. The school is an academic center in the field of national information communication research, with rich scientific research resources and strong strength. There are 13 national and provincial scientific research platforms, including the National Key Laboratory of Media Convergence and Communication, the National Communication Innovation Research Center of the Ministry of Education's Key Research Base for Humanities and Social Sciences, the Ministry of Education's Key Laboratory of Intelligent Convergence Media, the Ministry of Education's Key Laboratory of Media Audio and Video, the Ministry of Education's Engineering Research Center for Intelligent Radio and Television, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism's Key Laboratory of Audiovisual Technology and Intelligent Control Systems, the National Language Promotion Base, the Beijing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics Research Center Communication University of China Research Base, the Capital Media Economy Research Base, and the Beijing Key Laboratory of Digital Animation Technology Research and Application, as well as three higher education discipline innovation and intelligence bases, including the Digital Media Engineering Innovation Intelligence Base, the Intelligent Convergence Media Discipline Innovation Intelligence Base, and the Media Convergence and Audiovisual Communication Discipline Innovation Intelligence Base, as well as 12 other high-level scientific research platforms, including the International Chinese Education Communication Research Center, the Sino-Foreign Humanities Exchange and Propaganda Research Center, and the National Advertising Research Institute, and 32 school-level scientific research institutions, including the Xiong'an New Area Development Research Institute, the National Governance Research Institute, and the Internet Information Research Institute. The school has a complete teaching, scientific research equipment and public service system, and has built a big data center. The public service systems such as campus high-speed mobile network, digital cable integrated service network, book and document information resource network, modern distance education network are becoming more and more perfect; the practical experimental teaching platforms required for the cultivation of excellent media talents, such as smart classrooms, 4K studios, laboratories, and integrated media centers, are well-equipped and fully functional; the library has formed a collection system with rich content of information communication discipline documents and various forms of paper, electronic, and network. The school has two CSSCI source journals, "Modern Communication" and "China News Communication Research", ESCI English academic journals Global Media and China, and academic journals such as "Media Convergence and Communication", "Art Communication Research", and "Media"; co-hosts three CSSCI source journals, "Contemporary Film", "Modern Publishing", and "China Television", as well as the "China Radio and Television Yearbook" that records the development of China's radio and television industry, providing a strong platform support for the school's "Double First-Class" construction and scientific research progress. The school has established exchange and cooperation relations with more than 200 well-known foreign universities, scientific research and media institutions. The school initiated the establishment of the "International Alliance of Media Higher Education" with international influence, and established international academic research institutions such as the Institute of Community of Shared Future for Mankind, the Asian Media Research Center, and the European Media Research Center. It is a UNESCO "Media and Women" Chair Unit. High-level international academic conferences hosted by our school, such as the Asian Media Forum, the World University Women Presidents Forum, and the China Communication Forum, have become important platforms for exchanges in the international media and higher education circles.
