Introduction to Tver State Medical Academy

Tver State Medical Academy is a key medical university directly under the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation. It is also a member of the Sino-Russian Medical University Alliance. It has made remarkable achievements in medical education and scientific research. It is one of the famous higher medical education institutions in Northwest Russia.

The school has more than 500 faculty and staff and about 4,700 students, of which about one-third are foreign students. The school has 63 theoretical and clinical departments, 6,000 beds in 10 hospitals, and a dental clinic with more than 200 dental chairs, which can provide education in 56 undergraduate majors.

History and establishment time

The school's history can be traced back to the Leningrad State Dental Medical College established in 1936. In 1954, it moved to Kalinin and reorganized into the Kalinin State Medical College. In 1994, it became the Tver State Medical College. In 2015, it was renamed Tver State Medical University.
