Introduction to St. Petersburg State Conservatory
St. Petersburg State Conservatory of Music N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov, referred to as St. Petersburg Conservatory, is one of the world's famous higher music schools and the oldest music school in the Russian Federation.
Overview
The conservatory has 1,400 students, of which about 1/5 are foreign students, more than 400 teachers, and seven departments, including keyboard instrumental music department, orchestral music department, composition department, etc., covering multiple professional disciplines.
History and establishment time
Founded in 1862, it was founded on the basis of the former Russian Music Association and was initiated by Anton Rubinstein and others. In the mid-19th century, the rise of the new imperial society promoted its creation. Despite the shortage of teachers and imperfect teaching courses in the early stage, it still cultivated outstanding talents such as Tchaikovsky.
