Introduction

The Russian State Institute of Performing Arts, formerly known as the St. Petersburg State Academy of Theatre, is located in St. Petersburg, Russia. It is the oldest and largest drama academy in Russia and the largest performing arts education and research center in Europe. It is known as a national treasure-level art academy in Russia and a European palace-level art academy along with the Repin State Academy of Fine Arts and the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory.

Overview

The school has about 1,500 students from Russia and different countries every year. It has 7 departments and 18 teaching and research offices, and has several departments such as the Department of Performing Arts and Directing, the Department of Stage Variety and Musical. The departments have dozens of professional directions and related graduate and doctoral programs.

History and Establishment Time

Founded in 1779 In 1989, its predecessor was the Leningrad Academy of Drama. It has experienced the transformation and development from the realistic tradition of the Imperial Drama School to the Meyerhold working method. Today, the dominant teaching purpose is based on the Stanislavsky system.

Campus environment

The campus is located at 34 Mokhovaya, St. Petersburg, with two ancient buildings. The college has a gorgeous lounge, white marble staircase, black box chamber, classrooms, student presentation theater "White Hall", canteen and library. The school dormitory is located near the campus, usually 2-3 people, and the accommodation fee is about 2,000 yuan/month.
