Introduction to Linguistic University of Nizhny Novgorod

The National Linguistic University of Nizhny Novgorod is one of the only two national language universities in Russia. It is also a major center for training translators and interpreters and is in a leading position in the field of language education.

The school is located in the center of Nizhny Novgorod. It currently has more than 20,000 students, including more than 4,000 international students, and more than 900 teaching staff.

History and establishment time

In 1917, Nizhny Novgorod established a municipal language course. On this basis, Gorky Foreign Language Teachers College was established in 1937. In 1964, the Department of Western European Language Translation was established. In 1994, it was awarded the status of a language university.

Faculty strength: 270 doctors of science and professors, 805 doctors and associate professors, 15 academicians and corresponding academicians of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 13 Academicians and corresponding members of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences.
