Introduction to St. Petersburg State University for Culture and Arts

The St. Petersburg State University for Culture and Arts is the first higher education institution in Russia engaged in education and research in the field of culture and art. It is also the most important cultural and artistic research and teaching base in the former Soviet Union. It is now directly under the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.

History and establishment time

On November 28, 1918, the People's Commissar of Education Lunacharsky and the Adult Education Committee signed a decree to decide on its establishment. On December 20, the first teacher-student meeting was held at 35 Nadezhkinsky Street and classes began.
