Federico II University of Naples is located in Naples, Italy. It is a national comprehensive research university with a long history and a high reputation. It is also one of the oldest national universities in the world and occupies an important position in the field of higher education in Italy and even Europe.

History

Founded on June 5, 1224 Founded on 14th of the 16th century by Frederick II, Holy Roman Emperor and King of Naples and Sicily, it was originally intended to train government personnel. It has a prominent political and judicial academic tradition and is also the first school in Europe dedicated to training managers.

From the 13th to the 16th century, the school's subjects mainly included law, liberal arts, medicine and theology, among which theology teaching was mostly conducted in religious institutions.

In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the school became a pioneer in scientific fields such as genetics and established the first relevant chair in Italy.

In the 20th century, the school faced many difficulties during the fascist period and World War II. The headquarters was set on fire by the German army and the laboratory was requisitioned by the Allies.

On September 7, 1978, the university was officially named after the founder.
