History

The origins of the Polytechnic University of Turin can be traced back to 1859, according to Casati The Act, the School of Applied Technology of Engineers and the Italian Industrial Museum merged to form a university. At that time, the school began higher technical education and research with the support of the Italian Ministry of Agriculture, Industry and Trade, and actively explored new technical fields, such as electronic technology and construction technology. In 1859, Valentino Castle was transferred to the School of Applied Technology of Engineers and became the location of the School of Architecture today.

In 1906, its predecessor, the Royal Polytechnic of Turin, was officially established.

In the early 20th century, the Royal Polytechnic of Turin began to actively establish connections with the European scientific community and frequently cooperated and exchanged with national and local industrial institutions, thus giving birth to aeronautics and new laboratories.

In 1958, the newly built School of Engineering of the Polytechnic of Turin replaced Valentino Castle as the main campus.
