The University of Nouakchott is the leading comprehensive public university in the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, located in the capital city of Nouakchott.
History and establishment time
In July 2016, it was formed by the merger of the University of Nouakchott, which was founded in 1981, and the University of Science, Technology and Medicine.
School strength
Faculty: It has 506 teachers and more than 470 teaching and research personnel. Many professors are experts and scholars with profound attainments in their respective fields.
Teaching resources: The school has 31 research units and 4 scientific research laboratories. The school's medical school project was built with an interest-free loan from the Chinese government, providing a better teaching and research environment for the medical field in Mauritania.
International exchanges: It has established cooperative exchanges with universities or institutions in China, France, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Canada, Morocco, Algeria, Senegal, Côte d'Ivoire and other countries.

Key laboratories: The Environment, Health and Society Laboratory (LE2S) is the first interdisciplinary research laboratory in Mauritania. Its research mainly involves food safety, nutrition and human health, major pathological research related to the environment and social behavior in Mauritania, and three major themes: pollution, health, environment and society.
Key disciplines: biology, chemistry, geology, mathematics and computer science, physics, law, economics and management, geography, Arabic literature, and history.
