Introduction: Great Zimbabwe University is an institution of higher learning located in Masvingo, Zimbabwe. It is committed to providing high-quality education and conducting scientific research activities, providing students with learning opportunities in multiple fields, and cultivating professionals who meet the needs of social and economic development.
History and establishment time: The origin of the school can be traced back to 1995, when the government began to promote the transformation of teacher training colleges and technical colleges into degree-granting institutions based on the recommendations of the Chet Sanga Report. In 1999, a college of the University of Zimbabwe was established. In 2002, an act of parliament established the autonomous Masvingo State University, which was renamed Great Zimbabwe University two years later.
School strength: After years of development, the school has achieved certain results in teaching and scientific research. The school has multiple colleges, offering undergraduate and postgraduate courses covering agriculture, business, education, law, medicine, humanities and arts and other fields. Campus environment: The main campus is located in Masvingo City, and the school currently has multiple campuses in and around the city. Some campuses are located on the campus of Masvingo Teachers College, 7 kilometers east of the city center; the School of Tourism and Hotel Management is located on a hill that was once a hotel; the Herbert Chitepo Law School and Library are located in the city center; there is also a new campus in the western part of the city's industrial area, and the buildings along the Bulawayo Road are very conspicuous; there is also a campus in the mining town of Mashawa, 40 kilometers west of Masvingo, and a larger campus will be built near the Great Zimbabwe National Monument.
