Ningxia University is a university jointly established by the Ministry of Education and the People's Government of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, a national "double first-class" university, and a key university of the national "211 Project". Ningxia University was founded in 1958. In December 1997, Ningxia University merged with the former Ningxia Institute of Technology and Yinchuan Teachers College (including Ningxia Education College); in February 2002, it merged with Ningxia Agricultural College to form a new Ningxia University; in April 2014, Ningxia University Zhongwei Campus was established, opening a new chapter in the reform and development of the school. The school is located in Yinchuan, a historical and cultural city with a long history and beautiful scenery. It covers an area of 2,935.54 acres, a teaching experimental farm of 2,050.18 acres, and a school building area of 912,500 square meters. There are 2,700 faculty and staff on campus. The university enrolls students from 28 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government. It currently has 19,784 full-time undergraduates, 5,300 full-time master's students, 639 full-time doctoral students, 990 minority preparatory students and 129 international students. The campus is full of buildings, lush flowers and trees, and an elegant environment. It is an ideal place for studying and studying. In the course of more than 60 years of running schools, the school has adhered to the school motto of "honoring morality, diligence, seeking truth, and innovation", and carried forward the "Saxaul spirit" of "not afraid of difficulties, not afraid of wind and cold; deep roots and luxuriant leaves, solid roots and flourishing branches", worked hard, worked hard, dared to innovate, and pioneered. Especially in recent years, the school has seized the historic opportunities of co-construction by the province and the ministry, the comprehensive strength improvement project of colleges and universities in the central and western regions, the "double first-class" construction, and the "co-construction of the ministry and the region", adhered to the road of characteristic development, focused on improving the quality of school running, and continuously promoted the connotation development. The 7th Party Congress of Ningxia University determined the development goal of "building Ningxia University into a first-class university in western China with distinct regional characteristics and outstanding service capabilities by 2025", clarified the two main lines of work, namely "the main line of moral education with 'three-dimensional education' as the core" and "the main line of 'co-construction of the ministry and the region' with 'double first-class' construction as the core", formulated seven key tasks, and strived to start a new journey of building a first-class university in western China. The university currently has one national "double first-class" construction discipline, "Chemical Engineering and Technology", two departmental and regional co-construction advantage and characteristic discipline groups, "Chemical Engineering and Technology" and "Ethnology", one national key discipline, "Grassland Science", and one national key (cultivation) discipline, "History of Chinese Ethnic Minorities". 18 autonomous region key disciplines, 8 autonomous region advantage and characteristic disciplines in the "13th Five-Year Plan", 8 autonomous region key disciplines in the "13th Five-Year Plan", and 16 autonomous region first-class construction disciplines. 7 first-level discipline doctoral programs, 31 first-level discipline master programs, 19 professional master's degree authorization points, and 3 postdoctoral research mobile stations. There are 84 undergraduate majors, of which 28 majors have been selected as national first-class undergraduate major construction sites, 8 of the first batch of excellent agricultural and forestry pilot majors of the Ministry of Education, 2 pilot majors of the Ministry of Education's excellent engineer education and training plan, and 4 majors have passed national certification. There are 7 national first-class undergraduate courses, 1 national ideological and political demonstration course, 1 national "Huang Danian" teaching team, 2 national teaching teams, 1 national experimental teaching demonstration center, 1 national off-campus practical education base for college students, 1 national sports science popularization base, 1 national language and writing promotion base, the Ministry of Education's leading university for the joint construction of ideological and political courses for colleges, middle schools and primary schools, and 3 pilot virtual teaching and research rooms approved by the Ministry of Education. The school's scientific research work closely revolves around major national and regional strategic needs, deepens the reform of university science and technology evaluation, takes innovation-driven development as the driving force, activates innovation factors through institutional and mechanism innovation, and carries out organized scientific research, organized innovation, organized transformation, and organized services. The school actively connects with local characteristic and advantageous industries, takes the innovation of school-enterprise cooperation model as a way, and takes the innovation of social system and mechanism as a driving force. It has established comprehensive cooperative relations with 5 cities and more than 120 enterprises and institutions in the autonomous region, and has sent more than 100 science and technology poverty alleviation instructors, expert service teams, "three districts" scientific and technological talents and post scientists, and established industry-university-research innovation alliances such as the "Grass and Livestock Industry Technology Innovation Alliance". Relying on major scientific and technological projects, a number of technologies and equipment have been promoted and applied one after another. The university currently has one national key laboratory co-built by the province and the ministry, one national key laboratory cultivation base co-built by the province and the ministry, two key laboratories of the Ministry of Education, one joint laboratory for international cooperation of the Ministry of Education, two engineering research centers of the Ministry of Education, two collaborative innovation centers co-built by the province and the ministry of education, one key research base for humanities and social sciences of the Ministry of Education, and one regional and country research cultivation base of the Ministry of Education. The university has been approved to build a national university science and technology park. Adhering to the path of open education, based on regional characteristics and advantageous disciplines, the university has established substantive partnerships with 39 universities (research institutes) in 19 countries and regions, and cooperated with Dubai University in the United Arab Emirates to establish the first Confucius Institute in the GCC countries. It has established a "5+N" inter-school cooperation relationship with five universities including Shanghai Jiaotong University, and established a "5+N" school-local, school-enterprise-government-industry-university-research-application cooperation relationship with five cities and counties/enterprises in Ningxia, deeply integrating into the mainstream "academic circle" and deeply integrating into the local economic and social development of Ningxia. The school is one of the first universities approved by the Ministry of Education to accept foreign students. It is a university that accepts Chinese government scholarship students, a university that accepts Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region local government scholarship students, and the only HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test) test site in Ningxia. Since recruiting international students in 1992, more than 4,000 international students from more than 40 countries have come to study at the school.
