The predecessor of Maanshan Normal College was Maanshan Normal School founded in 1958, and its history can be traced back to Hexian Simple Normal School founded in 1946. In May 2004, it was independently upgraded to a public ordinary normal college with the approval of the Ministry of Education; in 2011, it passed the evaluation of talent training in higher vocational colleges with excellent grades; in 2015, it was approved to build a "local skill-based high-level university in Anhui Province"; in 2020, it was selected as a higher vocational (junior college) college for joint training of junior college students to undergraduates in Anhui Province, and piloted undergraduate education talent training; in 2021, it was approved as the fourth batch of "three-dimensional education" comprehensive pilot reform colleges in Anhui Province; in 2023, it was selected as a construction unit of Anhui Province's "Double High Plan". At present, the school is actively establishing Maanshan Normal College. There are 10,699 full-time students, including 761 undergraduate students. There are 8 teaching departments (colleges) and 16 administrative and teaching auxiliary institutions. There are 6 related majors at the junior college level that have jointly carried out pilot training for ordinary junior college to undergraduate talents with undergraduate colleges; there are 46 higher vocational majors, including 9 teacher-training majors and 37 non-teacher-training (higher vocational) majors, including 12 provincial-level specialties (comprehensive reform pilot). The campus covers an area of 806.91 acres, with one school and two campuses (Yushan Campus and Binjiang Campus) realizing cross-river linkage development, with a total construction area of 255,000 square meters. There are 527 faculty members, including 468 full-time teachers, 156 teachers with professors and associate professors, 314 teachers with doctoral and master's degrees (excluding 23 doctoral students and 19 master students), and 249 "double-qualified" teachers. There are 14 provincial-level teaching masters, 15 provincial-level teaching teams, 13 provincial-level professional leaders, 31 provincial-level newcomers, 1 provincial-level master (master) studio, and 3 provincial-level skill-based master studios. The school actively connects with the provincial industrial "quality improvement, quantity expansion and efficiency increase" action plan and the city's manufacturing industry "three-year doubling action" plan, closely follows the needs of local economic development to cultivate talents, and improves the height, precision and effectiveness of serving local development. Continue to strengthen the integration of industry and education, deepen school-local cooperation, school-school cooperation, school-enterprise cooperation and school-industry cooperation, promote the talent training model of "integration of work and study, integration of teaching and practice", establish school-enterprise cooperation with 153 enterprises, including 120 close school-enterprise cooperation enterprises and 97 local cooperation enterprises, establish the Software and Internet College, Tourism College, and Food College, and continue to explore the school-running model of the board of directors with government guidance, industry leadership, and enterprise participation. Signed a talent training strategic agreement with three counties and three districts, and formed a "industry-education connection" relationship with eight industries such as the city's information technology industry, cultural industry, tourism industry, and food industry. Facing the development needs of basic education and scarce job industries in Ma'anshan City and surrounding areas, the school has built eight professional groups for modern service industries, including teacher education, preschool education, computer and software, tourism management, art design, community service and management, public cultural management, and economic management, and one food processing professional group for modern processing and manufacturing industries. At the same time, the school is based on local cultural characteristics and social development needs, adheres to local and characteristic high-level research, and focuses on local cultural resources such as Li Bai culture, Xiao Yuncong and Gushu painting school, contemporary and Ma'anshan writers' works and cultural research, Anhui dialect, Ma'anshan education, Dangtu folk songs, Bailu dance, etc., with rich research results and rich and diverse forms. Up to now, nearly 50 teaching and scientific research projects of various levels and types have been established around Ma'anshan's cultural tourism and preschool education development, providing think tank consulting services to departments such as the Propaganda Department of the Municipal Party Committee, the Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, the Municipal Federation of Social Sciences, the Municipal Ports and Shipping Bureau, and the Municipal Economic Society, further expanding the radius and influence of social services. After more than 70 years of development and construction, the school's comprehensive strength, connotation construction, professional level, teaching and research and other core indicators have continued to rise. "Based in Ma'anshan and radiating the Yangtze River Delta" has formed a relatively distinct school-running feature, and the strategic pattern of "one body with two wings and dislocation in the same city" has become increasingly prominent. It has become an important base for local and industry talent training, scientific research, social services, cultural inheritance and innovation, and international exchanges and cooperation. The school has won the honorary titles of National Advanced Normal School, National Advanced Unit for Language and Writing Work, National Advanced Unit for Art Education Work, National Advanced Unit for Ideological and Moral Construction of Minors, the Fifth to Eleventh Civilized Units of Anhui Province, Anhui Province Employment Work Advanced Unit, Anhui Province College Students Summer Practice Activities Advanced Unit, Anhui Province's First Batch of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Colleges, Anhui Province AAA-level College Students Entrepreneurship Incubation Base, Anhui Province Tourism Education and Training Demonstration Base, and National Civilized City Advanced Unit. In the past five years, it has cultivated and trained tens of thousands of high-quality technical and skilled talents and more than 10,000 elites in preschool education and basic education for local economic development. The employment rate of graduates has remained at a high level of more than 95%, the employment rate in Anhui has reached 80.72%, and the employment rate in Ma'anshan has continued to rise.
