Changzhou University is located in Changzhou, Jiangsu, a famous historical and cultural city in the south of the Yangtze River with a prosperous economy and rich humanities. It is a provincial full-time undergraduate college jointly established by the People's Government of Jiangsu Province, China National Petroleum Corporation, China Petrochemical Corporation and China National Offshore Oil Corporation, and a university under the Jiangsu High-level University Construction Peak Plan. The school was founded in 1978 and was formerly the Wuxi Branch and Changzhou Branch of Nanjing Institute of Chemical Technology. In 1981, with the approval of the State Council, the school was named Jiangsu Institute of Chemical Technology; in 1984, the joint school-running mechanism of the People's Government of Jiangsu Province and China Petrochemical Corporation was implemented; in 1992, it became a ministry-affiliated college managed by China Petrochemical Corporation (formerly China Petrochemical Corporation) and was renamed Jiangsu Petrochemical College; in 2000, a management system jointly built by the central and local governments and managed mainly by Jiangsu Province was implemented; in 2001, Jiangsu Commercial Technical School was merged into Jiangsu Petrochemical College; in 2002, the school was renamed Jiangsu Institute of Technology; in 2010, it was renamed Changzhou University with the approval of the Ministry of Education. After 46 years of development, the school has now established a complete bachelor-master-doctor talent training system and a multi-level scientific research and social service system. In 2020, the school ranked 129th in the country in the Soft Science China University Rankings.
