Ankang Vocational and Technical College is a full-time public higher vocational college registered by the Ministry of Education, approved by the Shaanxi Provincial People's Government, and organized by the Ankang Municipal People's Government. It has a long history of running schools. The history of the college can be traced back to Guannan Academy in 1905. The Xing'an Branch, which was born in the former Ankang Normal School, was the first red revolutionary organization in Ankang. The college was established in 2004 by the merger of Ankang Normal School, Ankang Health School, and Ankang Second Normal School. Ankang Health School was founded in 1960, and Ankang Second Normal School was founded in 1985. In 2016, a substantial integration of Ankang Technician College, Ankang Technical School, Ankang Branch of Shaanxi Radio and Television University, Ankang Industrial School, Ankang Vocational Secondary School, Ankang Military Transition Training Center, Ankang Supply and Marketing Training School, Ankang Agricultural Broadcasting School and other 8 municipal vocational education colleges was realized to realize centralized and unified schooling. Over the past 100 years, the college has developed into a modern higher vocational college with comprehensive functions, combining higher and secondary vocational education, complementing full-time and part-time education, and taking into account academic education and social training. The college has an excellent educational environment. The college is located in the National High-tech Zone of Ankang City on the bank of the Han River. It covers an area of 720 acres and has a school building area of 315,000 square meters. The campus is shaded by trees, birds and flowers, and is a provincial safe campus, civilized campus, and smart campus. The teaching buildings, training buildings, libraries, and academic lecture halls are beautiful and well-arranged, and the gymnasium is standardized and fully functional. The total value of teaching instruments and equipment is 107 million yuan. The nursing major is a national backbone major and a national productive training base. The two majors of clinical medicine and preschool education are provincial first-class majors. There are 12,000 full-time higher vocational students. Adult higher education (open education and distance education) offers more than 30 undergraduate and junior college majors, with more than 8,000 registered students. There are more than 30 social training projects and more than 30 types of occupations for professional qualification (grade) appraisal, with nearly 10,000 training and appraisals per year. The college is a provincial adult education and community education guidance center approved by the Provincial Department of Education, a training institution for the "National Training Program" project for primary and secondary school and kindergarten teachers, and a continuing education base for professional and technical personnel approved by the Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security.
