Nanyang Agricultural Vocational College is a public full-time general college approved by the Henan Provincial People's Government, registered by the Ministry of Education, and sponsored by the Nanyang Municipal People's Government. The school was founded in 1951, upgraded to Nanyang Agricultural College in 1958, renamed Nanyang Agricultural College in 1959, renamed Henan Nanyang Agricultural School in 1964, and upgraded to Nanyang Agricultural Vocational College in 2013. Animal husbandry and veterinary medicine and horticultural technology majors are key majors in the innovation and development action plan of higher vocational colleges in Henan Province. It has 3 Henan Provincial Teaching Master Studios, 2 Henan Provincial Excellent Grassroots Teaching Organizations, 16 provincial-level boutique online courses, and 4 three-dimensional teaching materials projects for higher vocational colleges in Henan Province. Animal husbandry and veterinary medicine are recognized as the second batch of Henan Vocational Education Teachers Teaching Innovation Team. There are 216 experimental training bases inside and outside the school, and 8 national awards and more than 70 provincial awards have been won. Animal husbandry and veterinary medicine is a key major in the innovation and development action plan of the Ministry of Education and a high-level construction major in higher vocational colleges in Henan Province. In 2022, it was approved as the Henan Provincial Collaborative Innovation Center for Bioengineering Research and Application and the Postdoctoral Innovation Practice Base, jointly established the Beijing-Wan Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Research Institute with China Agricultural University, and jointly built an intelligent equipment R&D center with Rongyang Group.
