Nanyang Agricultural Vocational College is a public full-time general college approved by the Henan Provincial People's Government, registered by the Ministry of Education, and sponsored by the Nanyang Municipal People's Government. The school was founded in 1951, upgraded to Nanyang Agricultural College in 1958, renamed Nanyang Agricultural College in 1959, renamed Henan Nanyang Agricultural School in 1964, and upgraded to Nanyang Agricultural Vocational College in 2013. Since its establishment, the school has always implemented the party's education policy, adhered to the socialist direction of running schools, fully implemented the fundamental task of cultivating people with moral integrity, adhered to the school motto of "being upright, dedicated, self-reliant, and practicing", and adhered to the development concept of "innovation, integration, characteristics, and openness". At present, the school covers an area of 1,100 acres, with a construction area of 470,000 square meters. Riding on the east wind of the country's vigorous development of vocational education and the march from a "manufacturing power" to a "manufacturing power", the school takes the "double high" construction of higher vocational colleges in Henan Province as an opportunity to optimize the professional settings, deepen the integration of production and education, and carefully create first-class majors and professional groups under the guidance of new economy, new formats, new technologies, and new professions. At present, there are 61 majors such as agriculture, forestry and horticulture, animal husbandry and veterinary medicine, business management, intelligent manufacturing, automotive engineering, humanities and arts, preschool education, planning and design. Among them, the breeding major is the first batch of "key majors" in Henan Province, and five majors, including horticultural technology, animal husbandry and veterinary medicine, automobile inspection and maintenance technology, accounting computerization and mechatronics technology, are provincial key majors for the construction of characteristic higher vocational colleges in Henan Province. Animal husbandry and veterinary medicine and horticultural technology majors are key majors in the innovation and development action plan of higher vocational colleges in Henan Province. It has 3 Henan Provincial Teaching Master Studios, 2 Henan Provincial Excellent Grassroots Teaching Organizations, 16 provincial-level boutique online courses, and 4 three-dimensional teaching materials projects for higher vocational colleges in Henan Province. Animal husbandry and veterinary medicine are recognized as the second batch of Henan Vocational Education Teachers Teaching Innovation Team. There are 216 experimental training bases inside and outside the school, and 8 national awards and more than 70 provincial awards have been won. Animal husbandry and veterinary medicine is a key major in the innovation and development action plan of the Ministry of Education and a high-level construction major in higher vocational colleges in Henan Province. In 2022, it was approved as the Henan Provincial Collaborative Innovation Center for Bioengineering Research and Application and the Postdoctoral Innovation Practice Base, jointly established the Beijing-Wan Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Research Institute with China Agricultural University, and jointly built an intelligent equipment R&D center with Rongyang Group. It has successfully applied for 17 "1+X" certificate system pilots and was identified as the "Henan Province '1+X' Pet Care and Grooming Teacher Training Base" in 2022.
