Introduction and Overview: Albemarle College is a public community college located in the Albemarle region of northeastern North Carolina, with its main campus in Elizabeth City and branches in Baco, Manteo and Edenton. The college serves students in Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Dyer, Gates, Pasquotank and Perquimans counties, with a total of approximately 2,100 students.
History and Founding Time: The college was founded on December 16, 1960, and is the first institution in the North Carolina Community College System to be chartered under the Community College Act of 1957.
