The University of North Carolina at Charlotte is a comprehensive research university in the University of North Carolina system. It is located in Charlotte, the largest city and financial center of North Carolina. It is the most famous university in Charlotte. History and Founding Time
The school was founded on September 23, 1946. Its predecessor was the Charlotte Center. Its original purpose was to provide educational needs for returning World War II veterans. In 1958, the college became a North Carolina state-funded institution and subsequently joined the University of North Carolina system. In 1964, Charlotte College received funding from the State of North Carolina and became a four-year public university. On July 1, 1965, the school was officially renamed the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and it has been used ever since.
