Its origins can be traced back to 1878, when Benedictine nuns founded a boarding school in the Bismarck area. In 1885, the nuns established St. Alexius Hospital and added a nursing school in 1915. Later, the Annunciation Convent was established in 1944 and renamed the Annunciation Convent in 1947. The school was officially established in 1959 and was originally named Mary College. It was changed to its current name after 1986.
