Introduction and Overview

It is one of the 34 tribal colleges in the United States and a member of the American Indian Higher Education Consortium.

History and Establishment

Established in 1973, the Standing Rock Sioux Tribal Council in south-central South Dakota chartered the Standing Rock Community College. In 1996, it was renamed Sitting Bull College. In 1994, the college was designated as a land-grant college along with 31 other tribal colleges.
