Marietta College is a private liberal arts college located in Marietta, Ohio, USA. The college offers more than 50 undergraduate majors and graduate programs such as physician assistant, psychology, clinical mental health counseling and athletic training, covering a variety of fields such as art, science and engineering.
History and Founding
The school originated from Muskingum College in 1797, which was the beginning of higher education in Ohio. In 1833, it was chartered as Marietta College and Western Normal College, but the institution lacked the key authority to grant degrees at the time, so two years later on January 16, 1835, a new charter was re-approved and Marietta College was officially established.
