Introduction and Overview
Sinclair Community College is a public community college located in Dayton, Ohio, USA. It was founded in 1887 and is a member of the Ohio University System. It is also one of the largest community colleges in the United States, with more than 30,000 students and more than 300 degree and certificate programs.
History
The school is named after David A. Sinclair, a Scottish immigrant and secretary of the Dayton YMCA. Its predecessor was the adult training school he founded in 1887. It officially became Sinclair College in 1948. In 2013, the college purchased 3.4 acres of land in the center of Mason's Coserview Campus and opened the second Mason facility "Building B". In August 2016, Sinclair Community College signed a cooperation agreement with the University of Cincinnati, allowing students at the school's Mason campus to pursue a bachelor's degree in information technology at the University of Cincinnati.
