History:

Founded in 2004 by an act of the National Legislature of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation. On November 7, 2009, the citizens of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation voted in favor of the college becoming a constitutional college, and the passage of this referendum made the College Board Article XIII of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Constitution.

The college is located on a 37-acre campus in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, and has a 22,000 square foot educational and administrative facility equipped with smart classrooms, computer labs, a student success center, faculty offices, and student common areas. The campus also has student housing, a student center, and a cultural community garden.

Governance Structure:

The Board of Trustees is the governing body of the college and is composed of five Muskogee citizens who meet monthly. Board members are nominated by the Chief Magistrate and approved by the National Legislature.

Status and Accreditation:

It is a member of the American Indian Higher Education Consortium and was designated as a 1994 Land Grant Institution in the 2014 Farm Bill. It received initial accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission in November 2016, and the accreditation was renewed on December 15, 2020. The next accreditation review is scheduled for 2026-2027.
