School History
In 1965, the Florida Legislature signed a charter to establish Seminole Junior College, which enrolled 700 students in the first year. By 1971, the number of students enrolled exceeded 7,000. In 1975, it was renamed Seminole Community College. In 2006, the college launched the "Direct to UCF" program in cooperation with the University of Central Florida, and was renamed Seminole State College of Florida in September 2009.
School size
The college has four campuses in Central Florida, located in Sanford, Oviedo, Altamonte Springs and Heathrow, and also provides online learning mechanisms. There are more than 22,000 full-time and part-time students.
Professional settings
It can award associate degrees and bachelor's degrees, and offers a variety of education types such as professional certificate education. The majors cover many fields such as accounting, advertising, agricultural science, anthropology, architecture, art, biology, etc.
Accreditation status
It has obtained accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, as well as certification or recognition of specific projects such as the Accreditation Commission for Nursing Education and the American Bar Association Certificate Program Review Committee.
Campus life
The college is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association, the Florida College System Activities Association and the Central Florida Conference, and participates in baseball, softball and women's golf. In addition, the school offers more than 40 clubs and organizations, such as the Environmental Club, the Hispanic Student Association, etc., as well as art galleries, theaters, etc., to carry out beneficial art activities.
